Re: What did you do to your Caprice today?

I saw that replacement dipstick project that RCG posted a while back. I need to do that, too. I'm not overly fond of the wire-type dipstick, we have one on our '02 2500HD Duramax, but it's certainly better than the rivited dipstick the car comes with. Who, in the depth of their ignorance, would thin...

Re: Steering Wheel Shake

Just because they're new doesn't mean they're good. Same with the hubs.

What are your alignment settings? Do you have enough caster?

Re: Canuck Caprice

Awesome gains! Thanks for sharing! Other than finding and fixing a leak, I was planning to leave my exhaust alone. Guess you just screwed that up for me. These things are insanely-sensitive to ANY exhaust leak, ANYWHERE!! I've cobbled something together to fix the exhaust leak on our '12 that...

Re: Info on the heat exchange pipe in the 2012+ cars

Since it looks to be still available, and not terribly-expensive, I might throw one in the spares box.

Thanks!

Re: Drive Cycles - OBD2 Emissions Monitor Readiness

Since the instructions say to get the engine to a certain RPM, vs. getting the car to a certain MPH, I'd also assume Step 5 is with the car stationary.

Re: Info on the heat exchange pipe in the 2012+ cars

So it might be prudent to get a spare, should the compressor fail in the future? It looks like that assembly is no longer listed for the 2012, but one can find P/N 92285455 for the 2015. Is that the correct line? The pictures don't really have a good perspective view. I would assume a 2015 line woul...

Steve, any idea how much 'road-hugging weight' you're adding with all this stuff? Just curious, thanks.

Re: Struts off G8 onto 2013 caprice

Well, it's a stretched G8, and the added wheelbase is between the B and C pillar. But as far as the struts question is concerned, yes, mostly:

Re: Steering Wheel Shake

Sorry I forgot to mention the Rotors and pads are brand new and runout has been verified to be in spec. No excessive shaking while braking in fact when brakes applied around 60mph the vibration slows down. I cleaned all mating surfaces today and installed the new rims and tires seemed to help some ...

Re: exhaust rattle

You replaced the entire exhaust, or replaced the entire exhaust except for the front cats? If you didn't replace the front cats, definitely drop them and look down inside to make sure you haven't melted/broken the matrix inside the cat. Since you've replaced at least some of the exhaust, make sure t...
