Re: New member on the hunt for a Caprice

As stated, LS3 cam. Simple, indiscreet, nice bump in power. Could probably find one for reasonably cheap as well.

Re: Cam Change in car

First cam swap I ever did was on an LS1 f-body where half the engine is under the picnic table/dash, had to pull the radiator, flip up compressor like Silversled, etc. Most of the PITA of it was working under the cowl for 1/3 of the engine. I did it over a weekend. I also had my parent's garage at t...

Re: Vents for the rear?

If I had to do it again I'd do a 14+ 9C1 unless I found a nice deal on a 9C3 (the latter seems to fetch a premium, though I can say I kind of get why...). The SS console can be thrown in the 14+ cars with minimal work, however I think due to the electronic emergency brake, you lose rear HVAC from th...

Re: Vents for the rear?

Short answer is yes. https://chevrolet.7zap.com/en/caprice/48589-2012/0-0-1894387692/0-1703127738-0-0/ The vents that come through the CONSOLE don't exist on a 9C1 in stock form (I know that wasn't your question but just commenting on it since it's a vent so I figured what the hell). The y-shaped du...

Re: JBA Headers

Very reasonable. I think in the past (not sure about now), it was finding a place that ACTUALLY had them in stock, which was the issue.

Re: HVAC Duct Assembly order

No dice with rear HVAC, took the car to work this morning. Everything else works fine. Oh well, at least I didn't spend too much $ on the duct. Side note, wow what a difference a real console to rest my arm makes. And cupholders too!! -J Success. Was out vacuuming the car and was looking at some wh...

Re: Console swap what else do I need?

I think it was s/c'd cav that corrected the ebrake cable PN (I recall having another PN that led me to... well, not the cable). I believe he posted the correct one, which was very helpful. Credit to him on that one. FWIW 7zap.com has some pretty dang good parts diagrams. I normally shop through tasc...

Re: Weatherstripping replacement

The guy must have lived in this car, and never had a passenger, ever. Driver seat foam is shot, upper hinge, wrecked, weather stripping destroyed. Looks like they rubbed against the door frame every time, and leaned on the door fairly aggressively (the door check bushing was shot too). Passenger sid...
