Re: Softest (least harsh) strut/shock, spring, tire setup?

Does anyone know how the base G8 front spring rate compares to 2011 springs? Is it actually less or are we just guessing? I want to make my front as soft as possible. Is this a good option?

Handicapped parking tag from the 80-year old original owner. My car was never in service.

Re: If you had an entire G8 for parts...

I would change nothing. These cars are extremely rare, and the more original they are, the cooler they are (except for performance mods, of course).

Re: Winter handling/traction

What more can you really do besides snow tires and weight in the trunk? You can't expect miracles. Limited slip actually helps traction in the snow since you don't just sit there spinning the one wheel that's on snow or ice.

Re: brake issues after cam install

I have a much bigger cam compared to the one discussed in this thread and my brakes are fine. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I don't think it's the cam.

Haha, I love how they call them "Small Block" engines. I especially like the capital "S" and the capital "B."

Re: 3.45 Differential install

I believe that it’s a 1LE SS read end. If the gears are ok I thought I’d get a trutrac if the posi unit is ok I think I’d try to re-gear it maybe to a 3.45 or just hit it with a GM performance 3.91 kit or something. I know just enough about setting up rear ends to be dangerous lol so I want to have...

Re: 3.45 Differential install

I was just messing around with a calculator. Going from 3.45s to 3.91s will only increase engine speed by 258 RPM with a 28" tall tire (what I have). Hardly noticeable.

Re: 3.45 Differential install

Had anyone tried a 3.91 rear gear in a caprice? I wonder how bad it would be on the highway? RPMs are pretty damn low on the highway with 3.91s. Most people probably wouldn't even notice. I had 3.45s before and there's barely any difference in terms of cruising RPMs. They're great for an NA car wit...

Re: T-40 cam bolts SUPER TIGHT!!!

John, They were probably installed with loctite. A small, directed flame, applied to the head of the bolt will really help also. Glad to help out. Regards, Maurice Definitely loctited, which is why everyone said to use heat. You can't physically torque a bolt of that size in aluminum to the point t...
