Re: flasher module
On our 2014 caprices the flasher is bolted to the passenger side inner fender well under the hood but the connector is in the same place as you described It is a solid-state I believe and does not make any noise. It flashes at a steady rate of 2.9 flashes per second. I don't know if they moved it or if this was a part that was installed by the dealer because the flasher option we ordered is not listed on the window stickers which makes me believe the dealer installed them to meet our minimum spec. I believe the flasher mounted under the hood flashes the headlights and the taillights and reverse lights are flashed by the body control module if the exterior lamp flasher option is selected at purchase

Re: flasher module
The flasher module can get hooked up per aftermarket instruction. There is a wire within the factory harness that is connected to the BCM that senses a ground. You can intercept that wire, install a switch and flash the rears (brake light/reverse light) without turning the forward facing lights on. I have the schematic on my other laptop. I will post it later via edit.

Also see the 2013 Caprice Municipal Guide, pages 19 and 22. They warn of putting 12v into the BCM circuit. They don't say that in the 2011 Municipal Guide. I could not export those two pages out of the whole PDF.

Re: flasher module
Forgot all about this thread. I did get the unit and it was plug and play, mounted it on the upper front support bar where the plugs were wrapped up. I had a switch panel mounted in my glove box so it is out of site. I have it wired to do both the headlights and taillights/reverse lights. I also had white/amber flashers installed behind the grill and in the clear lights next to the reverse lights. Those are wired separately to switches on the same control panel.

Is there any video of the finished product? The Tech wrote:Forgot all about this thread. Re: flasher module
I was looking to remove my module. I unplugged it and found the high beans did not work. There any instructions that are helpful in bringing it back to Per upfitting wiring? In other words "normal car" wiring.
Re: flasher module
I'm not sure i uderstand what is being discussed here, is it possible to add in a flasher to a vehicle that did not come with it factory? using the module shown i don't see how it would attach to any switch it seems to just have 2 plugs that clearly go to whatever headlight harness up front once you unplug it?

Re: flasher module
There are two connectors on the module when you unplug it you are left with the two remaining connectors that are on the car side. Those two connectors have to be plugged back into to each other to get the highbeams to work properly after disconnecting the flasher module.smwalker wrote:I was looking to remove my module. Re: flasher module
If you do not have the exterior lamps flasher option than the car did not come with this module. That's ok. The connector you are talking about is put there on purpose to allow a flasher to be installed plug and play without cutting headlight wiring like in the old days that eventually would lead to failures in other components (if not done correctly) in the system due to excessive resistance. By unplugging that harness, you open the circuit between the two high beam lamps and plug it into the module which flashes the high beam lamps alternately and also allows the circuit to close when highbeams are in normal use to allow both headlamps to work normally. Current flows through the module even when the module is turned off to allow the high beams to operate as they do on any vehicle.xcidmigs wrote:I'm not sure i uderstand what is being discussed here, is it possible to add in a flasher to a vehicle that did not come with it factory? using the module shown i don't see how it would attach to any switch it seems to just have 2 plugs that clearly go to whatever headlight harness up front once you unplug it?
Once you plug in the module, you should have a wire in the up fitter harness (Dark green on 2014) and when 12VDC is applied, it will flash the high beam headlights. If using the OEM GM supplied flasher, the flasher will send the proper signal to trigger the brake/reverse light that is flashing.

Re: flasher module
Thanks garner, I guess with the mess of wires I did not see where I just could connect to two back together.
In this video at the 7:30 mark you can see where they plug in the flasher module.

Re: flasher module
Hmm, I have a flasher relay on the passenger side between the fuse box and headlight bucket. I haven't looked at it very closely, but it does appear to be still all hooked up. I'll have to try to trace the ground circuit to see where it leads.
