Update on a potential grouped shipment of Caprice "correct" insulator pads and installation parts (retainers).

As you can see above, a single hood insulator shipped direct to an individual address will cost in the range of $283 including the $11 UPS fee.

Based on the known package size requirement, an individual insulator shipped to a US address as part of a multi-part shipment from CP (in Perth Australia) to my ZIP (30115 - in GA) then re-packaged and shipped to your address will range between $207 and $217, depending on your US location, shipping rates based on FedEx Home Delivery, broken down as follows:

$165 for the insulator (preferably you will pay direct to CP via PayPal)
$5 for the UPS receiving fee at my end
$5 for re-packaging
$32 to $42 for shipment from 30115 to your location--I used ZIP codes for rate estimation in MO and CA to arrive at these rate estimates--this cost includes insurance

I would not ask for your payment of the US delivery cost until I've got the parts and have your insulator ready to ship, in order to re-confirm the total cost, due to the variability of shipping that could be more or less based on your ZIP - the payment to me would be either PayPal (with 4% fee) or your personal check, if you desire.

These are not inflated numbers--I'm not making anything for my effort (not complaining--just for clarity). You get your part at least cost possible, under the circumstances.

Package info (approximate):
54 x 33 x 2 (inches)
6.5#

Those that decide that they are "in" for this, please contact me by PM or e-mail (with a shipping address/ZIP) so we can get this put together and in motion. A phone number is requested by FedEx.

I use FedEx because I've found their service to be better and I have an account with them. Other delivery arrangement are possible - you can send me a shipping label that you pay for, for example, or a shipper call-tag, or you can arrange to stop by and pick up your insulator if you know you may be traveling through Georgia! I've got plenty of room and don't mind holding on to your part!

Since the most efficient method of shipment from AU to USA is in multi-packs of 3 insulators, and since it appears that at least 3 PPV owners are interested, the plan will be to bring a minimum of two 3-packs of insulators (or more if demands is sufficient) whether all are paid for up-front or not.

I'd rather NOT come out-of-pocket for "unsold" insulators, so I'm really hoping that we can match up 6 buyers (counting me) at minimum, to move this forward.

Bottom line, it's the difference between $283 and $207 to $217--"savings" of $66 to $76, based on the estimated dimensions and weights. Naturally there can be some variance in this but this is a "best guess" as to the difference in individual purchase/direct-ship and this group effort.

Here's the list of names who have given indication of interest so far:

UPDATE

I'll be traveling for the next 3 days, returning from CA with my FIRST car, a 1970 Nova, ordered/purchased new. A 30 year Navy career got in the way of this VERY long-term project that began in 1978, and has been in a "hold" status since 1992. It's now a "bucket list" effort. It's not a running car, but I "think" I have all the critical pieces.

Anyway....if I haven't left CP wondering what the heck happened, once I'm back in GA, I'll be moving on the hood insulator order. I can see at least 6 being shipped, so if you've been on the fence, please let me know you want in--they'll be shipped in packages of 3 as the most cost-efficient method, as detailed in a previous post.

Please post here or PM/e-mail me with as much detailed info for delivery as you can provide--I'll compile the final order by this time next week, expecting to bring at least 9 insulators--this may be your ONLY opportunity to get one for the best price possible considering the transportation challenges.

Thanks!

no, it's not done--the great procrastinator has been busy!

Participation is still open--I just need to check with CP to confirm what we can do and that terms remain the same.

I know that UPS has just made some rate changes, so it's probably going to be a little more to bring them here.

All players on this GP--please re-confirm and let me know if you're still in. With as many new members we've had in the past month or so, there may be others who would want to join in.
