Just some final notes on the Ebay Camaro headers project. When I was test fitting, I was not using the supplied 1/8 inch gasket. If I was, I would have noticed that the driver's side manifold needed only very minor massaging if any at all to clear the oil cooler, I'm thinking that I probably could have gotten away without any. The jury is still out on the motor mount clearance. I think some minor denting was in order, but MAKE SURE TO TEST FIT WITH THE GASKET IN PLACE like I...didn't. The steering shaft MUST be clearanced though. I see no way around that. Here are some pictures that I just took since I was taking out some more frustrations on the header due to having to clearance the steering shaft some more.

That completes the long tube headers project unless I have to take it apart again and fix something, but if I do, I'll post it so that if anyone else goes this route, they'll know what to watch out for.

I like it, nothing wrong with some low dollar high labor modifications.

What is your exhaust now - Speed Engineering LTs to (unknown cats) to Camaro midpipe and axleback?

What does the car sound like? If you don't mind please post a video!

I have speed engineering Camaro long tube headers, no name Ebay 3 inch high flow cats http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-Thunderbolt-Catalytic-Converter-High-Flow-T409-Stainless-Steel-Rear-O2-Nut/200909794679?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649, and then a magnaflow 3 inch catback with X-pipe from a pontiac G8. Just so you know, the G8 catback will fit nicely with the only mod being that you have to extend the exhaust tips about 9 inches. Idle video coming shortly.

I love the old fashioned beat down on the headers. Nice job. It definitely works.

I'm rocking Kooks but if I were looking for a cheap alternative and after seeing the efforts you took, I'd probably go with the JBA LT for about $500-$550. I've seen them on sale last year for $465.

It was a good experiment to see how well the Camaro headers worked, since they're super common and can be had for very reasonable prices. The caprices on the other hand, are not so common and there are only a few options out there. I ended up modifying mine way too much, but at least those who read this thread will know what it takes...and what is doesn't :P. It's a little late for me to check out the JBA's, but might be a good option for others to look into. But I think I'll have the flow that I'm looking for. They are 1 and 7/8 inch primaries with 3 inch collectors. That should support a good amount of hp.
