Engine oil additive

Post by No Moa »

I did a search (oil additive) most of the info was rear diff. I didn't see one for engine.

Is anyone using an oil additive to help with cold starts? Zmax? lucas? etc.

I have 100's of thousands of miles on several GM engines running the factory-recommended Mobil1 with zero engine issues. While many consider Mobil1 to be swill, at best, I'll continue to follow the OEM recommendations. Keeping the oil clean and putting a fresh filter on at every change is probably more important than any additives.

Hello? this is 1984 calling we want those bottles of STP oil treatment back....

Just buy any DEXOS labeled fully synthetic 5W30 oil you want sir, I change mine out at 6 months regardless of miles or what the stupid computer % calculation is. Its cheap insurance and forces you to give the entire car the once over if you do it yourself.

The new engines with tighter tolerances and better technologies (oils, as well as metals) have almost no need for any additives. Dont waste your money.

BUT on older and/or higher mileage engines, use BG's MOA additive. Best additive for the money.
