Cams finally installed, and the car won't crank
Cams finally installed, and the car won't crank
So I finally got the cam installed, went to start the car and it won't crank. Battery has power, fuses are good, and everything's plugged in. Does any one have any ideas?

Park/Neutral? Security system? I remember thinking on mine that the starter cable routing was rediculous. Check the cable junction under the red cover that's next to the master cylinder-

It's a u1000 code. Failure to communicate with the ecm

I'm trying to retrace the steps when I did mine for things to recheck. There was a large connector that went into a box just rear of the passenger headlight. There was also a small single wire computer ground connection (that I broke the eyelet off) on the rear of the drivers cylinder head.

Bad Ground (forgot one), or
CAN BUS connector Fault (unlugged, crimped, damaged), or
Dead ECM
That's where I'd start if I were facing a "U1000". I'm sure others will chime in with other suggestions based on their experience.
Good luck.

My buddy who was helping/ doing most of this is a gm tech and does cam swaps on ppv Tahoes all the time is a little dumb founded about it. Hes confident every thing is hooked up. Im gonna go take another look tonight, hoping a fresh set of eyes will catch something simple (especially since you guys gave me a few tips on where to look) If not ecu's aren't super pricey just wish I could find some one else around me to test it.

Hope you got it figured out. That would drive me insane.

It runs!! It was a grounding issue. We ended up just adding one and it worked. We can't find a missing ground which is weird so who knows. So here's a short clip of it running. This is still open loop and it super lumpy. Cars getting tuned Friday!!!!
