Just some final notes on the Ebay Camaro headers project. When I was test fitting, I was not using the supplied 1/8 inch gasket. If I was, I would have noticed that the driver's side manifold needed only very minor massaging if any at all to clear the oil cooler, I'm thinking that I probably could have gotten away without any. The jury is still out on the motor mount clearance. I think some minor denting was in order, but MAKE SURE TO TEST FIT WITH THE GASKET IN PLACE like I...didn't. The steering shaft MUST be clearanced though. I see no way around that. Here are some pictures that I just took since I was taking out some more frustrations on the header due to having to clearance the steering shaft some more.

That completes the long tube headers project unless I have to take it apart again and fix something, but if I do, I'll post it so that if anyone else goes this route, they'll know what to watch out for.

I like it, nothing wrong with some low dollar high labor modifications.

What is your exhaust now - Speed Engineering LTs to (unknown cats) to Camaro midpipe and axleback?

What does the car sound like? If you don't mind please post a video!

I have speed engineering Camaro long tube headers, no name Ebay 3 inch high flow cats http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-Thunderbolt-C ... 2749.l2649, and then a magnaflow 3 inch catback with X-pipe from a pontiac G8. Just so you know, the G8 catback will fit nicely with the only mod being that you have to extend the exhaust tips about 9 inches. Idle video coming shortly.

I love the old fashioned beat down on the headers. Nice job. It definitely works.

I'm rocking Kooks but if I were looking for a cheap alternative and after seeing the efforts you took, I'd probably go with the JBA LT for about $500-$550. I've seen them on sale last year for $465.

It was a good experiment to see how well the Camaro headers worked, since they're super common and can be had for very reasonable prices. The caprices on the other hand, are not so common and there are only a few options out there. I ended up modifying mine way too much, but at least those who read this thread will know what it takes...and what is doesn't :P. It's a little late for me to check out the JBA's, but might be a good option for others to look into. But I think I'll have the flow that I'm looking for. They are 1 and 7/8 inch primaries with 3 inch collectors. That should support a good amount of hp.

That sounds proper!

I finally got the car retuned for the long tube headers and to chase down an annoying problem where the car would occasionally pull power under full throttle pulls. It turned out that the car was going into DOD mode under a certain set of circumstances. I thought I had completely disabled it, but it found a way to reactivate it when certain things happened. Here is a picture of the whole car now that you have seen its heart and sould torn apart and rebuilt.

And here is the final product of all work that was done on the car from start to finish. This is on 91 octane pump gas, stock upper and lower pulleys, LS9 cam, stock maf, stock L77 throttle body, stock unported LSA blower and snout, etc.

It should be noted that part of the difference in horsepower from the last dyno tuning session and this one is that they only revved it to 5400 rpm the first time around and when I took it to another tuner, they revved it all the way to 6700 or so with the peak hp being at 6300. Another difference is that the first tune was done on a mustang dyno and the second was done on a dynojet. So with a 64 hp difference, the headers are definitely helping it make more power, but I would guess that they are only responsible for 20 hp at best.

is there any way we can get a short parts list? I need to start ordering but the kits I have seen seem to have more parts then I need like the Fuel Pump and water pump. Not sure what else though.

The parts that I included on my project are:
LSA Supercharger,
ZL1 lid,
LS9 Cam
LS6 springs
LS3 valley cover
ZL1 heat exchanger
CTS-V intercooler pump
Expansion tank from a Saturn ion
CTS-V fuel line
DW 65 LB injectors
NGK spark pugs (don't remember the part number but they were the ones recommended for supercharged applications)
Relocated Coil packs by almost an inch
CTS-V crank pulley (with crank pinning kit)
CTS-V supercharger pullies and tensioner
Stock untouched heads, but ARP fasteners and LS9 head gaskets
Speed Engineering Camaro Headers with Ebay high flow cats (surprisingly, they work).
3.27 rear diff from a 2015 Camaro.

If I think of anything else I'll update this post. Hope that helps.
