I just got the results back from a UOA w/ Blackstone Labs. I have been curious about doing this for years but never wanted to spend the money ($28) and never had any real reason to monitor my oil in this way.
I decided to go ahead and send a sample in because of the potential lifter issues and not knowing the history of my car. I'm not sure if I will continue to do so with every oil change or just update once/year or something. These results aren't guarantees of no issues in an engine, but can certainly give an idea of what is going on. I feel confident that I can continue driving without worrying about defective lifters eating my cam as we speak etc.
Has anyone else done a used oil analysis on these cars? How much reliance would you place on a UOA?

Re: Used Oil Analysis
Follow up sample, sent @ only 4k miles on the oil. I was anxious as I had noticed some oil consumption, but I know believe to be at a fairly "normal" rate for these engines.

Re: Used Oil Analysis
Updated - @ 90k miles there was a small blip in iron levels. I'm thinking that this was mainly due to the timing of my collection (near the end of the draining).

Re: Used Oil Analysis
What oil filter are you using? Seems to be doing a good job.

The standard ACDelco part - I believe a PF48.

Re: Used Oil Analysis
Thanks for sharing. Nice to have a "database" to refer to.
Did you change oil brands on that last sample? Some of the additive elements changed significantly. For example, calcium dropped from around 2000 ppm down to 1600. Magnesium jumped from about 10 to 466ppm. Quite possible that supertech changed formulations as well.
I'll likely take a sample from mine at the next oil change.

Re: Used Oil Analysis
I have used the Supertech Full Synthetic exclusively as far as I can recall - I did just switch to high mileage however I have not sent in a sample with that oil yet.
