4 Corner steam vent lines

Post by bluethunder »

Do PPV's from the factory come with 4 corner stem vent lines or are they just the two up front like other LS motors ??
Thanks

Just the two up front if I recall.

I got a 14's engine out at home will snap a pic of the back.

I swapped a cam in a 2011 during the Christmas holidays and it only has the steam line in the front.

Nope, the vents are just in the front. There are holes in the rear of the heads, but they are plugged.

This is mildly interesting. See the last post of this thread. The plugs are actually rivets and you can buy them if you ever wanted to. They have an actual gm part number.

Thanks to all who replied.......I guess GM thinks they are not needed. Just seems weird that they put them up front and not in the rear. I still think I may buy the kit and do it when I do my DOD delete.

i read in one of GM's LS books , they had cooling issues on the C5R's , and when they switched to only 2 ports it cured the cooling issues

i think they mentioned the coolant moving to fast through the head so it was picking up the heat out of the heads in the right areas

Well the two in the front are connected with a rubber hose. If that was the same in the rear then fixing a leak in that rubber would be a bear. Very hard to even get a hand back there.
