But if you figured it out to allow for inspection in its current form then great.

The MIL must be off, the code cleared and a certain number of drive cycles must be completed before it will pass inspection. I'm not sure how many cycles that entails, but I did get the car out last Wednesday for some errands, and we got out and back without any lights on the dash. I'll be taking it to do my Saturday errands, and if the lights stay off, I'll swing in for an inspection.

While I'm not 100% certain of a solution yet (once bit, twice shy), I think the issue was a leak in the exhaust system between the cat and the head pipe on the passenger side. If you've read my project thread, you'll note that I had fitment issues with the Solo Perf. cats and the exhaust. The passenger side slid right together, while I had to take a die grinder to the driver's side. I think that slip fit caused some air to be sucked back in, diluting the exhaust stream. I took some thin aluminum sheet and made a 'bushing' to go around the socket on the exhaust head pipe end so that it interference-fits into the cat. I DID note that after the restart, the car sounded a lot quieter.

While road testing with the scanner connected, both secondary O2 sensors were pretty much showing the same readings as I drove. The successful road trip last Wednesday was about 3X the distance I traveled the previous trip before the light came on, so, so far, so good. Fingers crossed we're done here so I can concentrate on getting the brakes finished on the Camaro.

NJ sounds the same. I would think that scanner might be able to show your readiness monitors? FWIW I had a hell of a time getting the EVAP system to report a ready status (took upwards of driving to and from my job for almost a week). Found that the trick was to let the fuel tank run down a bit, and run it between 25-75% full. There is an actual "procedure" for a drive cycle but IMO it's absolutely ridiculous. Your wider open space in TX might allow it to be more easily done, however.

I've done the aluminum foil exhaust leak solution bit before... worked surprisingly well. I have seen vids of guys putting slip fit connections (and others) together and they throw some copper looking RTV into the joint. Not sure if that might be a good solution as well, though it seems you've got it sorted. I saw your build thread but couldn't remember details.

Good luck on the inspection.

Yeah, my scanner shows what standard it's using (Texas) and whether or not it's ready for inspection. I'll check it Saturday. Odd, our 96 SS has a 'lazy' O2 sensor, which sets a MIL about once a quarter. It did that just before taking the car in for inspection. I cleared the code with another scanner/programmer, then rolled out the next day and passed inspection.

I think it has to do with the number of circuits that are marked 'not ready', and I guess the SS is just one, whereas when you clear the code on the O2 sensor on the Caprice, it clears three codes, so I guess it's tripping up on those three. Go figure.

Well, things seem to just keep getting better!!

I was going to take the car on a bit of a ride today to hopefully get past the 'monitor not ready' issue. THIS time, about the time I got to the end of the driveway, the chimes started going off and lights started coming on. I got an ABS Fault message on the DIC, then Stabilitrack fault. Every once in a while now, when driving the car, it seems the ABS is kicking back, as I can feel the chatter through the brake pedal.

My Android OBDII scanner won't see any such faults, and it seems that the Car Gauge Pro Android App may or may not be compatible with my ELM327 OBD module. I ran the car down to the local parts house, and their scanner showed no codes.

Looks like I get a trip to the Dealership in my future. FML!!!

Found out that there is a reader that will do more than just ECM reads. It’s called Blue Driver. Got the sensor in today, and hooked it up. Seems I have a Left Rear speed sensor error. I’llget A replacement this weekend, and see what happens with that.

C0045 was the error code.

Replaced the left rear speed sensor and after a short drive, all lights are off. So far. We’ll road trip next weekend to see if we can get a freaking ‘sensor ready’ mode so I can get the damned car inspected.

Then it’s on to our 92 Camaro B4C 1LE car since the e-brake isn’t cooperating.

We hopefully have the 92 Camaro fixed. Pending weather, I'll be taking it to get inspected, then probably go for an Antique tag so this stupid inspection silliness goes away.

I got the 9C1 out for a drive. I was hoping for a 'quick' trip down the freeway toward Galveston, then a quick blast back. As usual, though, since no one goes to the beach on the weekend, TxDOT had lane closures, exacerbated by everyone having to stop and look at the guy who got pulled over on the other side.

Back home after about an hour with about 30 more miles on the clock, and the sensors are STILL not 'ready'! WTH!! This 'ready' crap is really stupid.

So, since my ABS issue may now be fixed, do I HAVE to clear that code, and then wait until, oh, I don't know, Thanksgiving, until the sensors reset, or should I be good to go with simply getting the ABS issue fixed?

the abs is good if the light is off , after 43ish key/drive cycles the code will clear completely , if it hasnt already

I don't have that many cycles on it. I currently WFH, so getting a start/drive cycle is difficult at best. I can start it and drive it around the block, but from what I've read, that's not going to be enough.

most states allow 1 or 2 emissions flags that have not run yet , knowing some take a long time to run , you would need to check with a emission station in your area

also leave the abs code tell you go through emissions , just in case clearing it resets the emissions flags
