Just for reference here are the drive cycles for our cars. These procedures are useful when you have recently disconnected your battery or cleared OBD2 codes with a scanner and have to get your emissions monitors ready for a state inspection.
Check your state requirements as most of them allow one monitor to be incomplete and still pass. As an example:
Texas - Any 1 monitor can be incomplete
California - Only Evap monitor can be incomplete

Thanks for reference, this seems timely considering a few other current threads.

Re: Drive Cycles - OBD2 Emissions Monitor Readiness
For the v8, is step 5 meant to be driving, or just revving the engine at a constant TPS? Is says to shift to D, but then step 3 also says to put the parking brake on and shift to D, so I'm not sure I trust that. Step 5 is hard to do if you don't live in a flat area with a place that you can go for 2+ minutes without changing TPS at all, unless it should say shift to P and just rev the engine.
Thanks all,

Re: Drive Cycles - OBD2 Emissions Monitor Readiness
I think it's just staying parked. Because if #8 they specifically say to drive vehicle. Think they would specifically say it if they wanted yo to drive. Don't know though. Quite unclear.

Re: Drive Cycles - OBD2 Emissions Monitor Readiness
Since the instructions say to get the engine to a certain RPM, vs. getting the car to a certain MPH, I'd also assume Step 5 is with the car stationary.
