Bob, other than the tips, are the CapriceV mufflers at all different from the PPV mufflers?

Bill, they are the exact same muffler, single pipe, dual tip. In fact, I will give you my stock mufflers, if you want to weld tips on them, yourself. :mrgreen:

If you want them a little louder, but keep the stock look, you might try to open up the casing, remove the insulation, and weld the casing back up...

learned that trick from a tech at a local gm dealer... He said the factory system is similar to the solo J pipes, but with the casing and insulation...

I might try it with the factory g8 axlebacks I have (will extend them of course!)

I put the Solo axle-back on today.
Could have had it done in less than a half hour, but I busted the two top bolts.
We had to drill them out and put bolts and nuts on instead.

The sound is awesome!!
The sound inside is perfect in 8cyl mode, just loud enough to hear it but no drone.
The sound in 4cyl mode is acceptable. It sounds like a base speaker in the trunk.
It's not really a drone, but a lower tone.

Very nice. I always wondered what noise level I would have had with the SLP Loudmouth setup. As long as you can stand the 8/4/8/4 flip-flop it's all good :) You've got a good, clean install there.
System Manager and your tour guide for the day. 2015 Caprice w/LFX, former NC DPS staff car. Partial hybrid G8/SS/Camaro SS interior mods, SS MyLink radio upgrade, 2016 Camaro V6 rims, GMPP Malibu chrome exhaust tips, otherwise bone stock for now.

More info, Barry....don't tease us!

Is this the first PPV kit Solo has produced, or did you have to modify a G8 kit?

Is this a custom one-off setup, or is it now a listed Solo product?

Pipe size from flange aft? Outlet tip size?

Weight difference estimate compared to OE parts?

Uses all stock hangers?

I did notice that unlike PPV, the SS has no flex-joints or bolted flanges at the last pipe connection forward of the mufflers (J-pipes).

This is the first PPV kit. They basically took their G8 kit and modified for me. Same price as the G8 kit.
They were very great to work with.
If you want to go to their shop in Buffalo, NY they would have installed it for free.
The G8 kit usually has the tips already welded on.
They gave me the G8 pipes with a little extra pipe at the end.
And they gave me the tips with a short piece of pipe welded on.
And they gave me 2 nice band clamps to connect them.
You can slide the pipes in the clamps and adjust the length by 2".
As it turns out, the pipes are butt up to each other in the clamp and it looks pretty good (even with the bumper edge)

The pipes are 2-1/4, like the rest of the exhaust, and the tips are dual 3".
The tips are also staggered like the G8s.
They have many other tips.
There's a trapezoid shaped tip I liked too.
I don't know the weight difference. The old muffler was lighter than I thought it would be.
The new exhaust is just pipes.

So here's how the install went:

I was lucky enough to have a friend with a really nice garagemahall with a lift
(completely doable in the driveway)

So here's how the install went:

2. Spray the heck out of the flanges and bolts with WD-40 or PB Blaster
(I did this the day before too)
3. Unbolt the flange bolts.
(I broke the 2 top bolts, it seemed they were welded on there.)
4. Scrape off the old flange gaskets.
5. Pry muffler hangers out of rubber hanger.
6. Hang new exhaust in same rubber hanger.
7. Bolt new exhaust to flange using new supplied gasket.
(I had to use new top bolts with nuts because we had to drill out the old broken bolts)
8. Slide band clamp on the end of the pipe and slide the tip into the clamp
9. Tighten everything down
I did not have to bend the hangers or anything to make it fit.
The tuning pipes can be adjusted for sound.
I left them as I got them for now.

I'm going to send an email off to the Solo guys to tell them how it went with a couple of pictures.
If you want I can tell them there might be other Caprice owners interested.
Being as there is no muffler it really isn't loud at all.
I talked to a G8 guy today that had the full cat-back Solo and he said it was too loud for him.
I guess once you get rid of all those resonators it get's loud.
He changed to the to the G8 GXP muffler, sounded good, but quitter then mine.
