Been planning this for a month now. Acquired the the 2012 Camaro SS manifolds, cats, intermediate pipes and mufflers with two separate purchases. Installed the manifolds, cats and pipes last weekend. Cut the intermediate pipes just behind the expansion chamber/resonator. This weekend I added a 7" section ahead of the IRS and then fabbed the transition behind the IRS into the factory mufflers. Used a two bolt flange for connection to the muffler. The connection behind the Camaro resonator is a slip fit. My exhaust guy used pre-bent stainless pipe and we sectioned what we needed. He then TIG welded the assembly. A lot of placement, tacking welding and the usual on and off of the car fitment.
The car is still as quiet as it was new. Definite better mid-range feel. (The not-so-scientific calibrated-butt, seat of the pants feel) Did run the car last Friday before the mods. Best 1/8th time was 9.33 at 76.93 mph. Won't have a chance to run the car again for awhile. I will be on vacation later this week.

OK, what changes? Is the pipe up to the axle-back flange(s) larger?

Is the total system weight less?

Do you have any pictures of the 2 versions laying on the shop floor to show the difference?

The exhaust manifolds appear to be the same, but, I didn't verify. The exhaust pipe is 2 1/2" from the manifolds, through the cats, through the expansion chamber/resonator and into the Camaro mufflers. The Caprice exhaust is 2 1/4" front to back with the I.D. of the flex joint before the muffler being 1 7/8". I am assuming the larger pipes and catalytic converters would help with flow. The expansion chamber/resonator of the Camaro actually isn't baffled, you can see all of the way through it. There are a couple points where there is no division between the left and right exhaust flows.
As far as weight goes, I did not weigh the two. However, I still have the complete Caprice system, I can weigh that in the next couple days. I can also remove the altered Camaro system and weigh that also.

Some more pics regarding restrictions. The intermediate pipe drops down to 2" behind the oval resonator. Also, the I.D. in the Flex joint before the muffler is even smaller than I thought. I used a large socket to try to fit inside of the flex joint. The socket wouldn't fit.

would taking those two resonators off cause any problems?

I don't believe so. The first set of O2 sensors after the manifolds and before the first set of catalytic converters measure AFR. The second set of O2's measure the first set of cat's efficiency. The second set of cats are referred to as "pup" cats. They are still a catalytic converter, and not a resonator. But, there is no sensor behind these pup cats to monitor them. The design of today's catalytic converters tends to "straighten out" the turbulent exhaust gas pulses. The second set of pup cats helps with emissions and the sound of the system due to their design. There are plenty of threads on the G8 forums that discuss this.
