For me it was two things. No headers available at the time (hopefully that will change, maybe the Camaro SS headers will fit). And I was able to pick up a complete 2012 Camaro system (exhaust manifolds, cats, pipe and mufflers) for $400. And the Camaro system is 2 1/2" all the way back. I did re-use my original mufflers though. I will continue to upgrade as time and budget allow.

Maurice, if you do perform a fitment test with SS headers and it works, I'm heading to the store.... Wonder how it would be to get to header bolts from the top in our cars... they're probably no better then any other car with headers, tighten & tighten & tighten... :)

Eric, when I changed out the Caprice manifolds with the Camaro manifolds, I did the whole manifold AND Catalytic converters (as an assembly) removal and install in about 45 minutes. I removed the spark plugs and everything slid out and back in quite easily. Bolts were easy to get to. I did put on a set of Bassani mid-length headers on my 98 Camaro several years back. Haven't had to re-tighten since.

header install is very easy on these cars. about as easy as you can ask for anyway.
i would also like to make sure everyone knows the G8 headers will work after oil cooler is removed. G8s never had them, most engines dont have them not nessesary. i just feel like everyone is holding their breaths waiting for headers that are never going to come.

also if you feel you MUST have an oil cooler a remote mount truck style cooler is easily to set up.

I've wondered that myself. I have had that issue on a few posts here, and it's the same no matter what I'm using to browse the web with.

Can anyone who has done this swap confirm that the manifold/header piece is the same as what comes on the LS3 camaro? I can't seem to find side by side pics or part numbers to verify?

Well i finally got the answer to that as the GM parts online shows that both cars are using 12611638/639 as the factory manifold seems like it doesn't matter if its a LS3/L99/L77 only after the manifold is it different parts.

I think the messed-up pictures came from a server crash or server switch somewhere along the way. All of the older pics are like that.
