New Fuel Pump => P069E P023F SES

Post by SSpeedracer »

Fuel pump failed at 145K miles. Hard failure, would not start with key ignition.
Re-started after relieving pressure at fuel rail.(I had connected a fuel pressure gauge, there was very little residual pressure)

Fuel pump failed again 200 miles later. No start with key ignition.
Started second time after tapping fuel tank near pump with rubber mallet with key/ignition in start. Pump failure only after being parked both cases, never stalled while running.

Attributed failure to dead spot on pump electric motor and replaced with new fuel pump. I noticed burned contact, see picture. (this caprice has 150K in 2.5 years)

4K miles on new pump and now getting occasional no start. Getting P023F (Fuel Pump Secondary Circuit/Open) and P069E (Fuel Pump Control Module Requested MIL Illumination). I can clear codes and re-start car each time.

Any suggestions, troubleshooting advice? I think it might be the burned connector resulting in a bad/intermittent contact or high resistance. Anyone know where to get replacement pig tail or connector to splice etc?

Could it be a corroded ground point? Just speculating here...
