How close are the Camaro and Caprice in terms of exhaust fitment? I see these 3 inch kits for Camaros for $320 and below and after looking under the car and seeing how close they look I can't imagine it will be hard to make it fit. The mufflers need the most work. The space between the cat pipes is wider on the camaro as well. I currently have a stock camaro catback and it required extending the mid pipes I think 6” and then I added bends to bolt up to the stock mufflers since the camaro stock mufflers are gigantic and don’t fit

I know this is an old post but wanted to fire it back up for some info. After doing some searches on here, I've read that Camaro SS, G8, and PPV all have the same manifolds. That being said, I found out JBA makes a Camaro high flow cat/mid pipe (link below). Since the manifolds are the same, I would assume these would bolt up to our manifolds and one of those cheap Ebay 5th gen Camaro exhaust? I know the middle section would need to be extended 6-7 inches, and the muffler tips extended. Would that be it?

I'm considering going this route. I wanted to do JBA headers and catted mid pipes, but that alone is $1100 and still leaves you with a lot of stock exhaust. I would still have to buy an X pipe, mufflers, and some pipe. This setup could be had for roughly $850

Thoughts on this, or does anyone have experience doing this? I know it won't make the same power as long tubes, but I can't see it hurting that much.

I’m running speed engineering camaro headers and a camaro Ls3 factory cat back using stock mufflers. There’s actually a thread on here that showcases using a factory Camaro exhaust and what he had to do.

I have since went with a ZL1 exhaust with the 2015 Z28 Camaro LS7 headers.

I actually read through both of your post's prior to posting this, and almost sent you a PM asking. those were both really good posts. That's kind of what got the ball going for me with this idea. I want to run cats since we have road side sniffers (emissions checks on high ramps) where I live. The cost for long tubes and cats just goes up so fast.

I just wasn't sure about the connection to the factory cats. So they do bolt right up to the Camaro cats (I didn't see it in the photos and wanted to be sure). I wasn't sure about the part behind the IRS, but looking at the photos right now just realized you had to extend it because there was no flange. I'm guessing even with a flange it would need a few inches.

We did fabricate flanges to allow for the removal of the mufflers separately. We bolted two flanges together and fabricated up to them. I used some stainless pre-bent tubing to cut out and use the bends that I needed to create the pathway behind the IRS.
