Mild Exhaust Sound
I am interested in changing out some or all of my exhaust system with the goal of getting the sound somewhere near that of the 2006 GTO that I used to own. It had a stock exhaust system but sounded real nice. No drone or burble, just a deep, powerful sound. Anybody know of a system or modification that would get my 2011 9C1 close to that?
Re: Mild Exhaust Sound
The solo axle sounds very nice just drones like crazy when driving at Highway speed and the dod kicks in and out. I had the afm disabled and love it. Maybe changed my fuel economy by 1.5 mpg. People comment on the exhaust sound all the time.

Re: Mild Exhaust Sound
Thanks. I do a lot of highway driving, so I'm hoping to keep the AFM working. Need all the fuel mileage I can get. Had the drone on my 2008 G8 GT - didn't like it and don't want to deal with it again if possible.

Solardude, you were not able to tune out the drone using the Solo J-pipes. I have a Solo system on my Challenger and really like it. What little drone it had we were able to get rid of by adjusting the J-pipes. But then again the SRT Challenger does not have dod.

Re: Mild Exhaust Sound
The reality is, with DOD, is difficult to get that deep, throaty sound you want, without some compromise. Drone and DOD going in and out, make it difficult to get what you're looking for, with the L77 package.

People seem to be having good luck with J-pipes, properly tuned of course.

Re: Mild Exhaust Sound
These people say 4 cylinder mode is low and guttural. I've heard lots of 4 cylinders and that is not how I'd describe any of them. [url]http://marylandspeed.com/solo-performan ... 6.html/url]

Re: Mild Exhaust Sound
Page 3 does bash on AFM but also includes a possible fix for the AFM drone. If I still had AFM I would be working on a J-pipe like I describe on page 3. I went out with some equipment from work today and measured the exhaust drone in my particular application. If I still had AFM I would measure that and report on it, but I don't so I won't.storm9c1 wrote:People seem to be having good luck with J-pipes, properly tuned of course.
