You need to trim the heat shield to fit the ppv headlight bucket. It's physically too large and prevents airbox installation. The modification maintains the seal to prevent hot air from entering the intake. When I do the header install, I'll photograph it with a tape measure for scale.

Do you need any special tools to trim it like a dremel tool or anything.

It seems like it would be quieter than the G8 intake having that closed lid. How does it sound?

I actually kind of like the 'whoosh' sound of the CAIs on our 95-96 B-bodys. :mrgreen: Our 95 DGGM SS has a RamIT Ram Air system, and the 96 SS has the TeamSS intake.

Hopefully you can hear some of it from under the front bumper cover on the Caprice.

Yep, the high-pitched hum of the belt will cover the intake noise. I like that sound, too. It's almost as nice a turbine whine. :mrgreen:

The motor moans like a quadrajet with the filter lid flipped ( just lost all the young guys). I might modify the driver foglamp filler to allow a better cool air charge ( no worry of rain in Kalifornia)

Yep, you can't beat the sound of a Rotofab with these cars. And I can tell you flipping the cleaner makes old police cars sound oh so good :) The SS set wasn't around when I did my install so I went with the G8 GT kit. Only place I had to trim was the bottom of the air intake, some kind person before I got the car installed a siren speaker in the way. Everything else seemed to work pretty good. I sent a complete write-up on the mod to Rotofab with pics, but never heard a peep back from them....
System Manager and your tour guide for the day. 2015 Caprice w/LFX, former NC DPS staff car. Partial hybrid G8/SS/Camaro SS interior mods, SS MyLink radio upgrade, 2016 Camaro V6 rims, GMPP Malibu chrome exhaust tips, otherwise bone stock for now.

I've had a few scorcher days here in so cal and picked up a SES light. No big deal as it was cat efficiency bank 2. I did notice that after ten minutes of idling my IAT was up at 165*F when ambient was 104 A/c on. I didn't check with the stock intake and would like to know what you guys with the stock stuff are reading. At cruise I'm 20-30* above and that is with the foglamp filler drilled out. Any readings on the OTR intakes?
The cooling fans are blowing directly on the MAF which supplies IAT but 60 over seems excessive.

That sounds about right. Remember, the fans are also blowing are on the intake tube, and filling the space between the radiator and engine with nice toasty air. It's amazing how fast the air can heat up in those tubes. I have my RamIT intake tube wrapped with insulation to prevent that some.

I have rotofab and solo axle back exhaust along with full dyno tune.

Car sounds great and runs great. No more DOD, firmer shifts and about 50 HP increase over stock

Very happy install was easy
