Just Ordered My Parts!

Post by offutt0311 »

Hey guys, just ordered all my parts for my exhaust install! It'll be a completely custom setup and I think it's going to look and perform very very well. Parts are on the way, and I will keep you guys posted on the progress. By the way, scored a free Vararam OTR intake and boy what a difference!

I look forward to the progress. There's another company that markets a similar oil cooler for LSx engines that I was considering over the Tahoe PPV cooler adapter. I guess those are G8 headers?

Yes sir, that'd be correct. I never have most my cars over a year, so no high dollar headers for this guy lol. I'm just going to coat and wrap these. The headers were like $229 with free shipping. Then the whole system will be 3". Haven't decided on an h or x pipe yet...

Whose headers are they?

Can you post the suppliers of the parts and if you have their contact, that would be great for future reference.

Thanks!

Indeed, although it looks like the cats and mufflers are just standard 3" in and out parts available from one of the big warehouse parts suppliers.

The place I go to for the oil system parts is Improved Racing:

http://www.improvedracing.com/products/ ... m-c-3.html

They're a big supporter of the GM F-body crowd, and I am about to put their oil pan baffle under our 3rd Gen Firebird.

I'll get all my supplier information together today, but to be honest I purchase most of my stuff on ebay just because of the fact I have had great luck on there and you can buy much closer to the wholesale prices. Plus I don't mind doing a few modifications and wrenching on my car a little more often than most people. At the same time I can also tell you I have $500 or less tied up in the oil cooler, headers, high flow cats, and standard single chamber mufflers! The mufflers are FloPro SuperV single chambers, the cats are marketed as a High Flow 3" Thunderbolt Cat, oil cooler kit is coming from China (I know, shame on me), and the headers are PaceSetter G8 Steelies! Like I said, this is going to be a very budget system, but I really think the results will be impressive! This with my VaraRam OTR that I managed to get for free, and a tune should really wake the car up. The VaraRam OTR impressed the sh$t out of me already!

WIP, or it didn't happen!!

It will be very interesting to see how you route the cooling lines and where the cooler ends up.

Well I'm hoping to place the cooler on the front of my radiator. Since I have the VaraRam OTR, there should be some room to run the lines with the radiator leaning back. Plus seeing those stainless lines, an fittings, and pretty cooler through my grill on a sunny day will look kicka$$ and give me a serious LS Powered woody lol.
