Cold air intake

Post by elmer91 »

What is everyone doing for a cold air intake? Will one from a G8 or SS work? Or is there any companies that make one just for the caprice? Not finding much in my quick Google searches.

I purchased a RotoFab CAI for a G8. I had to modify it. See my link:

Other members have used one from the SS. It is in this link, down a few posts:

Awesome, thanks. Should have realized cai meant cold air intake, too early in the morning for me to put the two together.

Looks like Roto Fab now makes one for the Caprice.

I picked up a VaraRam OTR intake for a G8 GT. Fits pretty darn well and makes a huge difference!

So since I have a Roto Fab on my car I went to the site to check this out. If you look at the pictures the second one, the Alto Gray car, is a picture of my car with their CIA installed. :D

Is this actually modified or retooled from the G8 intake? The last time I was on the site, I noticed they listed one for the Caprice also but I did not see the one for the G8 any longer. I was thinking it was the same intake just advertised differently to reflect a new market since most G8 owners probably already have one. Did they modify the box to properly seal against the PPV hood? I already bought the more expensive Rotofab SS CAI and its working great but I'm transferring it from the patrol car to my POV soon and wouldn't mind buying the cheaper Rotofab CAI for the patrol car but I don't want to mess with sealing up the hood or making any other mods as I don't own the car and cant do anything permanent to it.

Garner,

It looks like it is, but according to the description on that web page, they've fixed the housing so it seals against the hood. Funny, it appears to come with the G8 V8 installation instructions. Still, if it doesn't seal against the hood well, someone on this forum has modified the G8 housing so it self-sealed. You may look around here to find that thread. It might be an option, but the housing on the Caprice looks like it's taller in the pictures.

I just ordered the one they have listed to fit the caprice. so I'll install it when it comes it and post up how it fits. Hoping it comes in early next week, Heading down to LS Fest in Bowling Green and would like to have this on before then.
