Slipping shifting into 3rd
Re: Slipping shifting into 3rd
Yea I think the deeper pan just gives you more margin for error on the fluid level. With the factory pan yo gotta be right on and in the cases of hard accel even that might not be enough.
Re: Slipping shifting into 3rd
How much ground clearance do you lose with the bigger pan? Does it stick out below anything else?

The Exhaust joints a bit further forward are what rub on mine.
I tried to get a pic of the difference here:

Re: Slipping shifting into 3rd
running the deeper camaro pan , doesnt reduce the ground clearance much
i run the deeper B&M cast aluminum pan , and i only ever scrapped it once , and that was going into the driveway at my old job , it was like a mountain , i never had anything in the road hit knock on wood

Definitely adding this to my mod list, as well as a dipstick from a truck (which I heard some have done).

Re: Slipping shifting into 3rd
After replacing fluid and filter I am not sure about the level with a few sporadic shifts which never happened before. I know the level is close cause I watched the guy do it although the temp was getting at the upper limit when checking it.This is the second time I ve had the level checked after changing. Never had issues until fluid change. I have a few hundred miles since the fluid change. Could there have been air somewhere that purged? I bought a quart more of fluid and was thinking of adding 1/2 quart. Anyone see any issue with doing that. I m thinking in case it close that should correct it, and at worse case 1/2 more should t hurt anything.

Re: Slipping shifting into 3rd
its always been said to run 1/2 to a qt more than recommended
Re: Slipping shifting into 3rd
Definitely add an extra half quart to start. It won't hurt a thing.

Re: Slipping shifting into 3rd
Thanks for the vote of confidence . I added a little more than 1/2 quart and will report back after a few hundred miles.

Re: Slipping shifting into 3rd
Added 1/2 quart after level was correct and a few hundred miles and no more missed shifts.
I d say to anyone that after you have the fluid level correct according to the GM procedure that you should just go ahead and add 1/2 quart.
