Either should work. THe Cadi guy mention a 1 inch snoot - but I think he is exaggerating on the length there. See yours when it comes in. THe only thing that scares me is the mention of a different pan that has the indentation to accept the snoot. If you used the snooted filer on a flat pan would it actually block the fluid from entering the filter?

Yes, well done! It would have been nice to see you go into engineering mode, but I guess I an just go do that myself.

Do you have some sort of carbon fiber wrap on the surround under the screen?

Thanks, yea I could not hold the camera and start the car but it was easier than I thought getting to engineer mode. Yes I wrap this sliver pieces with carbon fiber.

Just thought I'd chime in as I just did mine yesterday. I actually flushed mine (aka: full fluid exchange) using the lower tranny cooler hose. Used that to first drain out the pan by running the engine and the pump just pumped out the fluid into a bucket. All told, about 7L of fluid was pumped out and left in the pan. After almost 100k km, it was dark but not nasty.

First time working on a low car in years as I am used to working on trucks. Just using ramps wasn't enough clearance for me to crawl under.

After replacing the filter, pan and gasket, filled it with 7L and ran it with the hose still going to the bucket to pump out all the old fluid. Filled it again and ran it some more until the fluid ran nice and red. Topped it off + an extra litre. All told, used a total of about 13L. I used a hand fluid transfer pump and my arms are still sore. Next time, I'll use a drill pump.

It was getting the occasional flare 3rd gear shift and it's all good now.

I used oil pan #24250062, filter #24258269 and gasket #24224781.

I've been thinking of doing this pan. Need to confirm though, is this symptom where the car has a significant delay in getting between gears? I always drive my 2011 in tap to shift manual mode and quite often if I'm getting on it good when I shift from 2nd to 3rd, the engagement into 3rd is delayed probably about 3 times the duration it should be. Throws you forward in the seat.

shift flare is usually when the rpm flares up like you bumped it into neutral , before hitting the next gear

the manu-shift mode of the 6l80es is rather slow from the time you bump it to the time it shifts

Whether you have a shift issue or not, IMHO, it's worth the upgrade for the extra insurance of the additional fluid capacity and the wide mouth filter to avoid any fluid starvation. The pan is actually dirt cheap. Why Holden didn't go with it is beyond me given the nature and abuse of police duty.

Every penny is sacred, and the manufacturer is trying to hit a cost point and profit margin on every vehicle made, so I believe it. That, and the added ground clearance with the shorter pan is probably a deal. You don't have to hit too many wallabies to realize that.

I'm sure they also calculated the risk of the occasional flare and it's affect on the transmission during the warranty period and figured it wouldn't amount to many saved warranty repairs.

Funny how the mind plays games with what you see. In the picture above of the inside of the OE pan with the deep pan, my mind parsed it as the drain end being the deep end, so I was having trouble figuring out how that small sump made any difference since there was no space for the filter pickup to go. Flipped it around in my tiny brane and 'Ahh, now I get it!'
