What stall with E1840P Cam for Daily driver?

Post by Turbopowered68 »

2014 Caprice 6.0 6L80 with a tune.
Bone stock 6.0 besides Cam and springs
Cam is E1840P, Springs are Pac1218
Problem = Engine is pushing on the OE converter at idle.
I am considering the ZL1 converter GM (24242552)
I don't mind leaving some performance on table just looking to NOT push on the converter when my fat foot isn't on the throttle.
Thanks For your help.

your best bet is to talk to a couple companies that do converters , and get their recommendations

also a good tuner can eliminate some if not alot of the surge you are getting

The 1840P is the 228/230 .585 112 right?
I ask because people are running even larger cams (TSP LS Stage 1 and BTR STAGE1) and not having huge surging problems. A converter will always help putting the power down, but Could it be a tune issue? Or too high idle?

I’m planning on getting a cam that’s around that size and don’t want to do a converter, so I want to make sure it won’t be too much since it’s a little larger than the 1840p.
