Grinding from rear passenger side

I have a 2012 caprice V6. It started when I would accelerate from a stop I would get a slight thumping sound from the rear end. That quickly went from thumps to grinding. Now the car won’t accelerate over 7 mph and has significant power loss. If I try to go above that the brakes engage and slow me back down. I bought a replacement rear end from a caprice with 2000 miles on it that crashed in the front. The shop replaced the rear end but the issue is still present exactly how it was prior. I jacked it in the air and removed the rear tires and put the car into drive. The driver side rotated fine but the passenger side was choppy, like stuttering.

I’m at a loss now for what it could be. When I started the car to move it to be towed to the shop, the dash reported an stabiltrack fault. But when I restarted the car it was gone. Other than that no lights or warnings have appeared on the dash.

Parking brake pad has probably come apart and is stuck in the brake drum. It happened to me and was a easy fix

If it’s as simple as a parking brake, I will be thrilled. Also I’m glad the car lot I bought the car from covered the cost to swap the rear ends.

So it wasn’t the parking brake. Does anyone have any other ideas?

wheel bearing

caliper not releasing (check/compare pad wear with other side) - slide pin{s} seized, piston stuck, defective brake hose keeping brake applied

Well it seems like the car is in a limp mode. The dash doesn’t tell me that but I tried to move it today and got a CEL. The codes came back P0700 and P0797. I still believe that there is grinding coming from my passenger brake area but it appears more is going on.

have you had some stand or hang out the rear pass door to verify the noise is coming from the RR tire area ? and not the center around the trans ?
