OK folks, please tell me my eyes are playing tricks on me. Everyone is referring to the transmission shift lever on the 2014 Caprices as a "Column shifter" or alluding to the fact the "shifter is moved to the steering column". Well, take a good close look at the spy picture that was released. The shifter that is pictured is NOT a column shifter. It is a dashboard shifter, it comes out of the dash to the right of the column, the lever then makes a 90 degree turn and acts like a standard column shifter.
They could have done just that as easily with a push button shifter. Someone tell me I'm seeing things... I can understand the sentiment for police officers being addicted to column shift, but this just looks....weird.... to say the least.
