I have a working setup right now. I did it last year so I kinda forgot what i did. I did however NOT use a G8 shifter i made a "shift box" so i have a switch for sport on/off and then a upshift button and a downshift button. If you want to use a G8 shifter you will need to replace a bunch of interior parts or make a custom console. I like 9C1 setup how it is that's why i stayed with it. Ill try to look into it to see if i can remember what i did....

Hey! Welcome to the group! I have used this website (along with others from this forum) with really good succes. We will click through the GM Holden stuff and find a lot of popular swaps already documented. Just click on the How To tab at the top. The different models will pop up. You can use VE Caprice to start.

I will add this diagram and pin out to the conversation in hopes it helps someone. My source does not mention if it for a 9C1 or 9C3 which leads me to believe the connector is the same for both? Maybe just missing some wires on one or he other?

That pin out matches the G8 pin out I saw on another board. I assume that it is the 9C3 then.
(saw it on this thread: http://www.g8board.com/forums/showthread.php?t=174010" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; )

Anyone have a pic of the 91C shifter connector?

Reading the Hot Rod article, looks like you had to have the BCM re-programed to allow the tap shift?

http://www.hotrod.com/cars/featured/150 ... mess-with/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

"Fortunately, he found the company White Auto and Media, which was able to custom-program a body control module (BCM) that would mimic the functions of the G8's tap shift."

So I guess it isn't quite plug and play for the Caprice.

It was not plug and play exactly. White auto is on here that's one how i found him. I had to have him reprogram the BCM( i actually just bought a new one programmed from him) I i also had to re-pin the harness and make that box, which mimics the G8/9C3 shifter's control board. The way the box works is a voltage divider circuit. Basically what happens is when "sport" is selected it sends 7v to the BCM. When up shift is pressed it drops to 4v and down shift drops to 2v. I found this thread about adding paddles on the G8 board and worked from there.]If remember i had to repin on of the wires to the BCM and add one wire. The only drawback is that it doesn't display the current gear on the DIC. I think the IPC can be reprogrammed for that, but the aeroforce gauges have a display for it so i just used that.

Finally got around to taking a pic of connector x1 on the bcm. There is no purple/red wire in pin 20, so I assume that is the wire that needs to be run for tutd (tap up tap down) to work, along with having the bcm programed for tutd.
Per the pin out diagram info out there, which matches the G8 tutd circuit I posted that puts the wire in pin 20 :
Pin 20 - Purple / Red - Transmission Electronic Range Select Signal
Pin 21 - Brown - Ignition 1 Voltage
(it is on carmodder if you want to see the full pin out http://www.carmodder.com/viewtopic.php?t=14534&f=253" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; )
