Re: Making Z06 wheels fit!!!!
so a little update........ after about 7 months of pretty hard driving and abuse i had one of my modified rear lower control arms let go on me... Luckily nothing happened to the car, could have been a lot worse. Id definetly chuck it up as a learning expiernence about stress points, and metal fatigue. With trying to wrap things up on my new house I dont have the time to build another set stronger and better, so i picked up a pair of BMR's for now. Unfortuanetly this little set back is gonna be a decent delay in getting the summer wheels and 325's on the car. Theres no way the z06 wheels are gonna clear the BMR control arms.
Keep your eyes peeled for some updates this summer in the way of a night fury cam and dod delet kit from Brian tooley racing. The rest of the exhaust to get finished, a custom intake, and last but not least, a little body work in the rear end......
some photos, becuase updates with out pictures are useless.

So was there any modification needed ? Or just the mods you have already made . All that meat looks great underneath that car.
Re: Making Z06 wheels fit!!!!
I didnt have to do any further modifications. The car still needs to be dialed in a little more, but it is doable.
The single biggest issue im having is due mostly to the spring being really soft. Its allowing for the control arms to make contact with the wheels occasionally, and of course the tires with the quarters. Im going to add a little preload to the springs to see if it stops this from happening. The long term solotution would be to repalce with a stiffer spring better suited for the car and not a G8 (ive heard they are even a little to soft for those).
Ill get some better pictures this weekend, after i get the car washed up.

Re: Making Z06 wheels fit!!!!
They are Cx racing. cheapest I could find on ebay. other than not having custom spring rates available, they are really nice for the money. i paid 800 shipped.

Hopefully, they use a standard 3" or 3.5" coil-over spring. Those aren't terribly expensive.

Re: Making Z06 wheels fit!!!!
i believe its a 3", Ive just got other stuff thats a bigger priority right now like a cam.. I havent really had a chance to drive car hard yet cant wait to see if a perfect alignment and all that extra rubber help stick to the ground. I plan on removing the extra battery this weekend and putting the sway bar back. My thoughts are eliminating the extra weight so far over the rear end and limiting the amount of independent suspension travel will get rid of my issue.
since I dont beleive in posting anything with out including a picture. I like this one a lot. you can see just how massive the tires are.

All that tire looks great and I am surprised that it tucks so nicely .
