Remanned burnt perogies

Post by Car54 »

I finally started to get my remanned Brembo calipers from RA these past few days.

After a miss ship of the wrong color the last one is due to arrive tomorrow.

New rotors all around, Brembo’s up front and NAPA rears.

Brembo pads front n rear.

All “said to fit” 2014 Camaro.

So my question, what type fluid/brand to use???

With the possibility of a Nor’easter this weekend I might have to force myself to make this all fit on my car over the weekend.

Yep. Dot 4 was the original stuff in the PPV and probably the same in the Camaro those calipers came from.

As for your perogies, they could be saved by scraping the burnt part off and putting them in a nice sauce

Scraping them off and sautéing some onions with butter, sour cream… ok now hungry.

Will grab some more brake fluid tomorrow.

1st off thanks to all for all the replies & help.

I attempted to make this happen this weekend. Keyword…attempted…

I ordered rear rotors for a ‘15 SS thru NAPA online.
I received the rotors, one the 2 stickers on the box says it’s the correct rotor for the SS. Open the box, NOPE… it’s for a ‘15 Chevy 3/4 eight lug Silverado! D’oh!!! Of course NO parts stores have them in stock. Sigh… maybe by this Friday.

2nd I didn’t read EVERYTHING posted here in it’s entirety. Yup ID 10 T…

The stock bolts that hold the caliper brackets to the car are NOT compatible with the new Burnt Perogies.

So for those that need the following info here you go. This is for the 2015 Camaro Calipers. Thanks to my brother for answering the phone!

Use Flange head bolts or specified caliper bolts.

Caliper bolt Front: M14x2 40 MM. Grade 10.9 or higher.

Caliper bolt Rear: M12x1.75 40MM Grade 10.9 or higher.

I got the front bolts thru NAPA. Have to order or get the rears.

Sssoooo,

The rears went on without any issue, clearanced the backing plate and bolted on the rotors, calipers & installed the pads.

The fronts on the other hand, are a nightmare.

Caliper bolts right up, Brembo rotors go in with out any issue.

Go to put the pads in, can’t get them to go into place. I’ve pushed the pistons as far in as I think they can go. After I managed to get the pads in place the rotor is stuck in place.

If I don’t have the pistons in far enough…
How do you compress the pistons in on both the inner and outer at the same time while being on the car? Do I need a special tool?

Usually with the caliper in place with the old pads, you compress the pistons back in using a couple of screwdrivers prying on the pads. With the caliper off, pushing on just one pair of pistons you will have the other pair push out unless you open the bleeders.

Or use a tool like this:
