Coilovers

Post by bnsfBO »

Anyone here get a set of coilovers yet? Since the aftermarket is slim, i was thinking a set of G8 coilovers would work. Id hate to spend 1k on parts that i don't know will fit. Thanks for the help!

I see that Maryland Speed has the BCs on special, and have an option to also order a set of Whiteline Strut bushings for the fronts when you order the coil-overs. Do these bushings/bearings offer any updates on the Caprice? Thanks.

whatever fits a G8 will fit 11-13 PPV, not sure if there's any change in 14 (Commodore/G8/SS - VE > VF or Caprice - WM > WN)

I recall that Whiteline has introduced a new "improved" front upper strut bearing unit, is that what you're talking about?

This:

Whiteline Plus Strut Mount Bushings and Bearings - 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO & 2008-2009 Pontiac G8

Not sure if they're 'new and improved', or not.

I just replaced both of my strut bushings and while one was cracked it was the plastic bearing that made me laugh! This piece is junk! I honestly do not know how anyone can keep these things in a "Severe Duty" vehicle without constant failures. I drove for four days in Baltimore where they use a lot of Caprice PPVs and it was just two days after replacing my bearings... yup, you guessed it, they are busted again and making noise! Thank God for smooth roads in Texas!

Found a guy demodding a G8 on the Grrr8 forum, and I picked up a set of BCs with the high-rate springs. I think they had just a few thousand miles on them, and they still look new. As soon as my credit card cools off, I'll be ordering a front sway bar for the car (I want to do it at the same time, since the front end has to be partially-disassembled anyway). Can't wait to see how she handles with the new suspension parts.

No link to your Whiteline Plus product--got one, was it Maryland Speed?

Here's what I found:

Super Pro (via BMR) – have not asked BMR what the difference is other than price.....

Maryland Speed shows W41772 (above) as "Whiteline Plus"

IIRC, it's the Whiteline Plus parts.

I think it's these:
