Hello from se wi, have a few questions!

Post by 12vPowered »

I have been in the market for a 6.0 caprice for a while and after missing out on a few auctions Im going to look at one this weekend with the intention of buying it, 2013 with 80k for just under $12k. How do I disable the dod and afm? Id like to start getting a parts list together so what will I all need to replace for the dod/ afm systems? And does anybody know of a good tuner in the se wi/ chicago area? Was going to take it to LMT but I dont know if anyone in the area has more l77 experience

There's a couple of ways: tune it out and leave the parts there, or replace the parts AND tune it out. There are tuners who can do it, and several 'DOD delete' kits out there. I think Texas Speed has some expertise, as does Livernoise.

You need to determine what you want to do with the car first (DD, weekend toy, standing mile competitor, etc). Welcome.

with that miles I would err on the side of caution and just buy a DOD removal kit and possibly a new camshaft while you are at it...

The car will be a dd for a good while, Id like to do the dod/ afm deletes right away and a nice cam in the future. Anything else to take care of immediately?

Verify that the recalls have been done.

You are thinking of KIA. GM only offers the 60K powertrain.

EDIT: DOH, I am wrong it is 100K for 2011 vehicles. I assume that is the same for 2013 models. ALthough I recently heard they brought it back down to 60K for 2015 vehicles.

For the 2016 model year Chevy and Gmc went to 5yr/60k power train. Down from the 5yr/100k they had since 07 I believe. Buick (and Cadillac I think) went to 6yr/70k in 14. It's so confusing now and I even work at a dealer :D
