New member Maine.

Post by No Moa »

Hi, new member from midcoast Maine. Been in the caprice/Impala ss scene for 20 years.
Have a 95 9c1 X MSP police car now and a 96 Impala ss that's slowly getting a 5.3 t56.
I also buy many used police cars and resale mostly dodge chargers and crown Vic's.
Going to possible buy a PPV in the near future. Any year to stay way from? What should I be looking at?
Been reading up a little bit on issues and recalls.
Thanks
Glen

Welcome to the forums! There's a lot of accumulated knowledge here, if you read some of the threads & sections in the forums you'll get a better appreciation of the quirks in these Australian-designed cars. As far as a year to stay away from, there's not a year that stands out more then another in my opinion. There were a few design changes from 2011-2012 and also a refresh in 2014 on the interior & electrical architecture (MyLink in lieu of Holden IQ for entertainment) including a new dash-mount shifter to free up the center console. Naturally most serious car folks will go for the 6.0l engine although the 3.6 is available in these cars as well. Also, anything 2013 & up will not have rear door speakers for the stereo unless you add them in.

A lot of the users here have roots in the B-body world, I had a 95 of my own for instance that I owned for five years. There's a good number of cars coming available now from agencies as surplus, mostly 9C1 although an occasional 2011-2013 9C3 does pop up from time to time. Hopefully you'll find something soon that you like & will want to drive.

Again, welcome!
Eric

So i'm pretty much decided on a 2014 with the upgraded interior. I found one, its a long distance from me. But its 90% of what I want. Couple pictures.

5000 miles. 2 owners. Haven't checked Carfax yet. As I understand it, pd bought it, didn't use it, sold it off to a public owner who didn't like it and bought an impala (yuck)

Glen,
Welcome to the group. His loss is your gain. He must have been adverse to good handling, brakes and power. You will enjoy the car!

Glen FYI there is a very nice and knowledgable guy in York, ME who deals in high quality used police cars. You may know this already. Nicest guy ever; he is a retired local officer himself.
