Bonham Chrysler had a Red 2011 PPV that had been a long term test vehicle... The rear suspension subframe had been replaced... It had been done at Hendrick Chevrolet...

I test drove it, but didn't buy it... they wanted too much...

This is exactly what I was wondering might be the case--I would expect the same thing to happen at some point with any remaining 2012's and even 2013's, eventually.

Good to know!

I'm guessing I'm still the only one to get ahold of a 2012 brand new... 8-)

First reply was the standard no can do, agencies only. Then a few days later he emailed me to ask if I was still interested. He told me that GM had written the 2011s off and that he could therefore unofficially officially sell it to me. Sold as a new car although it did have 562 miles on it. He said it had been bouncing around the Hendrick chain and City had only had it about a month. So the right dealer might be willing to sell whatever new 2011s are left. I wanted a 9C3, and the silver and red ones were the only 2011s I saw.

Same experience here ~ ~ ~ out of curiosity the price you paid if you don't mind to share? I paid 24K even plus 500 bogus 'closing fees' plus TTL. The car has sticker MSRP of 32,***, does come with heated mirrors which were not a option on G8s.

They want too much for all their used 2011 Caprice 9C1 cars, so not surprised the beat up demo is too much as well. I thought about going up there to look at one, but I decided to just be patient and wait for the right deal. That payed off and I got my 2011 9C1 for a great price for lower than most are selling for new or used. Mine had 16K miles and was first titled December 2012, so I still have a good long time on the 3/36 warranty. Just a few issues, but easy to deal with over what I saved on it.

I did an AutoTrader search the other day with the templated search I have set up in links. I couldn't believe the amount of 2011's I was still seeing out there still for sale by dealers. And some of the prices were high enough to choke a horse! I wonder how badly some of the dealers are buried in those cars, or maybe those dealerships have owners & managers that will not accept a business loss under any circumstances. If they're floorplanned I really, really feel sorry for any dealer that still has 2011 cars on the books and is paying monthly interest.

Eventually the remaining dealers holding inventory will have to deal to sell the stock. With the 2014's shortly forthcoming, on October 1 everything 2012-2013 just entered orphan status with the 2011's approaching the equivilent of lepers in the new car world. No dealer wants a "new" 2011 car in unsold inventory on his lot and no govt. purchasing agent in their right minds would touch one of those with an ugly stick. But, for the right price, some one (read - civilian buyer!) will eventually get a hell of a deal. Sure hope they don't have too much gas in the fuel systems or the service departments will get to clean out the varnish by the time they get sold... :)

Anyway, I digress. Welcome to the system!!!

For posterity, Criswell had all of the colors available (sans blue) in their fleet of 13 cars that they tried to sell to the public back in '11. When I arrived to pick up my silver car, I saw 2 red ones in person. The sales manager there told me that no blue ones were available on the first shipment off the boat (otherwise I would have drove off with a blue one instead of silver). Does anybody know anything about the missing blue cars in the first shipment? Unfortunately, Criswell sent back all of the Caprices as soon as they got slapped on the wrist for trying to sell to the public. That means at least 2 red ones vanished. Who knows what happens when the cars are sent back to GM. Are they crushed? Resold?

I was told that GM has put $5000 on the hood of the 2011s. I figure this should result in transaction prices on the remaining new 2011s in the $24K to $26K range, depending.

Even though I paid $29,800 for mine, I still think I got a helluva deal... not to mention serious exclusivity! 8-)
