I was intending to TRY to participate in chat tomorrow, but it's Cinco de Mayo and I'll probably be out somewhere enjoying some Mex food. Being in Pacific time zone doesn't nelp matters....if not tomorrow, maybe another day, or next week!

I know some nights I'm early, some late.... ok.... REALLY late.... but I'll make an effort to be in chat tomorrow evening as well. Next Tuesday I'm leaving on a massive driving road trip... Florida to Ohio, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Biloxi MS, then back... maybe more parts unknown in between...

I'll probably take the wife's 2005 E320 CDI because of the long-haul fuel economy (40+ MPG since it's Diesel) and because it has the nice comfy Mercedes Drive Dynamic seats. The seats have air bladders in them that can give you a massage going down the road. I just put a rather expensive tune in the vehicle's ECU, so I'm really interested to see how it will perform for me. It's supposed to increase it to 230 HP or so with a corresponding torque increase, stop the long-term EGR carbon fouling, and increase fuel economy by 2-4 MPG. I can tell you that the tune did get rid of almost all of the turbo lag I was experiencing and the car "feels" more peppy so that's something. Last two years of the straight-six German imported diesels in the CDI. Everything 2007 & up coal-wise is that "Bluetec" junk... no DEF for me :)

Last year when I purchased it, I ran this car from Fairfax, VA to Daytona Beach, FL on one tank of Diesel with a gal or so spare. 785 miles, 19.6 gallons consumed out of a full tank of 21 gals (plus .5 or so for the filler neck). If the new tune adds 4 MPG to that I'll be in the 43-44 MPG territory, those are TDI-type fuel economy numbers in a Mercedes. Not too shabby!

I'm going to the Dallas area and then out to Midland for a day or two. I have a family member I don't get to see very often in Waxahachie, and a very dear old friend that recently lost his wife of 30 years (former co-worker of mine from the 80's) out in Midland I'm going to call on. I'll have a laptop with me so I'll be checking in here off & on. Nebraska-wise I'll be probably stopping in Omaha for a day or so, then off to Oklahoma then Texas.
