Newb, finally owner

Post by Cumminsmannow »

Hello all, my name is Tony.
I had been looking for a few months for a caprice and finally found a deal i was comfortable with.
Picked up this gem on sat 9/29/18 in Dallas TX. She is a 2012 9c1 with 61,000mi. Drove it back home to MN.

I've been reading on here since my first search a while ago, so thank you for providing so much info!

Monticello

Thank you. I have plenty of questions and work to do. My plans this winter are a supercharger, wheels and tires, and paint.

First up is both front control arm bushings are SHOT and need to be replaced soon.
Man is this a fun car! Tons of power for a stock car, i cant wait till it is putting down a couple hundred more hp.

Welcome! I bet the drive back to Wi. was fun in that kind of car!!

It looks like you have the strobe inserts in the fenders? That looks pretty neat. Have any better pictures of that? Just curious.

I didnt know what they were called but had planned to remove them to see whats behind it. It looks like a piece of clear plastic that says code3 on it and i can see some wires cut off behind there... i will investigate and take some pics and post.

It was a fun but long drive. I did a few "spirited runs" and all i will say is it handles very nicely DEEP into tripple digits.

Okay, I guess it is this kit:

I think they just pop out like the fender inserts, although you may need to loosen the inner fender liner so you can get behind the light panel to pop it out without messing anything up. You may want to carefully remove those lightheads, they're not cheap!

Mine have a decent amount of screws holding them in, like 8 or 10 screws.
I will investigate tomorrow morning.
