New member, hood cowl

Post by Littledevilbmx »

Howdy all, just got accepted to this community, I'm Sean I have a 2012 black caprice. I'm hoping I can help with questions, give some good answers, and vice versa. Super excited to get this thing modified. Now has anyone put any type of cowl or scoop on their hood? Thanks in advance.

Welcome!!

I think an easier project was folks installing a Camaro duct. Can't seem to find info on that. ANyone??

Then if you want to get a little more advanced and expensive there are a few options.

User Mercialogo grafted in some metal G8 ducts into his with great results:

Ryan Bell owns a body shop out here in CA and he has been through a few different styles. I believe these are fiberglass designs grafted into a stock metal hood. Lots of hours involved in blending and smoothing.

Lastly there was a group buy on some hoods made in Saudi Arabia. cost was about $1300-$1500 Think about 10 made it over to the US. There were two styles one with a front inlet and one without.

Where are you located?

I have one in my basement that needs to be grafted onto a hood.

Has anyone been able to graft in the 5th or 6th gen ZL1 scoop on the hood? I really like the 5th gen vented style duct but I don't know in the pictures it looks a little narrow and small. Does it look like that in person as well? Are there any other possible style hoods? The G8 nostrils look awesome but they don't add any clearance right?

I know this is bringing an OLD thread back to life, but.........

I've seen pictures of the Camaro SS/ZL1 Hood VENT installed in the Caprice Hood, but I haven't seen ANY instructions, tips, anything on how to do it!

Do you just measure it out, grab the Sawzal, and go to town???

Call Chip Foose and the "A" Team???

Thanks....

I just grafted in a ZL1 carbon insert. Looks pretty good I think.
