Hey everyone,
I basically grew up as an import guy but I've owned some American vehicles. I'm a mechanic with 15+ year experience, but I don't know much about the LS or L77 engines.
I picked this thing up on an auction site on a whim. I've always eyed them because I knew what engine they had; but I had no idea how much of an odd ball these things are. Nor did I know they were actually an Australian chassis. I've been lurking the site for a few weeks and just searching non stop so I don't ask any dumb questions.
About the car; I thought it was a 9C3 but the label in the trunk says 9C1.... It has 2 batteries, Semi cloth rear seats, and wheel covers, and a spot light. Everything except the spot light would suggest 9C3, but the label says 9C1. I saw someones label had the wrong color on it, so maybe mine has the wrong chassis or a different spare tire cover? Car has 121K, and I've had it for just about a month. I just had an intake pipe come in that I plan to install (Spectre 110 degree pipe with stock air box). I would also like to do a cam, headers, cutouts, and maybe some spray.

Badnacho,
Welcome to the group! A couple of things to look for to determine a 9C1 versus 9C3. You could get a 9C1 with the full wheel covers and full carpeting. The 9C3's center console will look like a G8's with the four window switches in the center also. The 9C1 will have the shifter offset to the left, towards the driver to allow for a flat spot for equipment. The window switches were moved to the driver's door panel. Do you have pictures of the interior?
Regards,
Maurice

Spare tire cover is an easy thing to swap out. Our '12 came with no SPID label on the cover, hence my sig.

Re: DC area owner
spot light , cloth seats and carpet , does not make a 9C3
9C1's were standard with carpet and cloth rear seat , the rubber carpet and rear seat are a option , same as the spot light was a option on the 9C3

Re: DC area owner
Thank you all for the warm welcome.
I read through the manuals on the home page but must have missed the part about the center console in the 9C3's. It is definitely a 9C1 based on what Maurice described. It has an offset shifter, metal box for a center console, and the window switches are also on the drivers door panel. If you all would like I can post photos of the interior, but after what you described it's def a 9C1.

Maybe if the track ever opens back up I'll see you out there. Capital is the closest track to me.

Some interior pictures would be great! just to compare to mine.
Re: DC area owner
I just quickly snapped this photo. The console is a Troy Products console. I made the larger square that has the silver screws. I didn't cut it straight but if you squint it looks good lol. The rest of the interior is stock.
