New Owner from Baltimore
Hello Everyone. Just picked up a 2014 9C1 with 6L. It's an ex factory demo with 6200 miles and has never been in service.
Couple of questions; Dealer refused to remove the spot light. Some crapola about being afraid it will leak. They did order me a new interior pillar cover. They said I can purchase some kind of plug for the outside. Anyone point me in the right direction?
I'm new to tuning LSX motors. Recommendations for tuners. 93 octane is readily available in my area. No doubt The General left a lot on the table with the L77.
Thanks for you help. It's about time I had a decent daily driver. Don't ask what I have been driving for the last 5 years.

Welcome I will have to let some of the other members clue you in on the how to's of spot light removal . But once again welcome .
Re: New Owner from Baltimore
Welcome!
My light was removed by the dealer. This dealer has a body shop in house and they replaced the steel and painted it. They told me it would have cost me around $800 if I had just come to the shop to have it done. So I would recommend going to a body shop.

Welcome to the site! Keep us updated on your 2014, there's not many of them out there in private hands yet but we're starting to see a few cars pop up now. I think you'll find that it was the best dollar vs. horsepower buy on a RWD car currently offered by GM.
Spotlight. What I've done in the past to seal the spotlight hole on a temporary basis was to go purchase some of the metal seal body shop tape and put a small section over the shaft hole and the holes for the two screws. If you make sure you don't have any metal burrs sticking up out of the holes (those can be tapped flat with a small hammer) you should have a watertight seal. That works for roof holes as well. You can paint the metal seal tape to match with some spray touch-up or even with a brush applicator until you can get the car to a body shop, this way it doesn't look bad if you have to drive it for a while.
And yes, the long-term ultimate fix is to have the section professionally filled & repainted.
Thanks and again, welcome!

Re: New Owner from Baltimore
Welcome to the forum. If I were you I would just keep the spotlight. I had a '93 Caprice that I turned into a show car that had dual spotlights.
As for the L77, the one in my 2011 has a cold air intake and Kooks long tube headers. Tuned by PCM of NC in Mooresville NC and has 373 rwhp with 390 lbft of torque. They also turned off the AFM but the gas mileage has gone up 20 mpg normal driving (up from 17.1 mpg.)
Happy Motoring

Looks like the spotlight is going to stay for a while. My son thinks I'm nuts to take it out for people get out of your way. Then again that will just get me in trouble. Hopefully I'll get used to looking around it.
Discovered performance mode the other day. Now I gotta get a tuner I want that all the time.
Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome to this fine group! Small group, but a lot of good info here. A few of us have had tuning done to our cars. Multiple resources out there. I don't think I have heard anything bad about any tuners used here. I have HP Tuners for my own curiosity, but have relied on Chris Henry for more in depth tuning. He is avaiable on our forum.

Re: New Owner from Baltimore
Some states are funny about spotlights. I've had good and bad experiences in PA (been driving 9C1 Caprices for 20 years). The laws are fuzzy in PA regarding them. So check the laws in your state.
As for spotlight removal, I've just crammed in the "epoxy steel putty" type stuff. It's gray. You knead it to activate it. Shove some in the hole to seal it, let it dry then sand and paint it. Not as good as a metal repair but works quite well.

Re: New Owner from Baltimore
Hmm, I'll have to check into the law in PA for I'll venture north of the Mason-Dixon line sooner or later. Glad I'm not the only closet Mopar owner here though the Challenger is my wife's daily driver.
