New Member waiting impatiently

Post by CrashTestDummy »

Just joined up on the list. Definitely NOT new to police car ownership, though. We currently have a '92 B4C 1LE Camaro, a '95 9C1 Caprice and '10 Tahoe PPV in our 'collection'. Since GM seems to be wanting to get out of the RWD sedan marked (again), I've been thinking more and more about getting a Caprice 9C3 or SS. The Caprice would come in at a good price point vs. spending the ca$h on a new SS, because that would free up some funds for mods. So, I'm lurking, gathering mod info and looking for the perfect Caprice to follow me home.

Let me say welcome first lol . But you kind sound like myself and a few of the other members here . I went and looked at a SS and loved it but the 50k price was completely out of the question . So when I found my 9C3 it was on and popin ! I couldn't believe how close it is to the SS and can be had for half the price . But stick around there are some good folks here a lot of them from the old b-body forums . So again welcome .

Welcome Gene. I'm "VIN Guy" from Impalassforum, so I've been around a good while. I think these cars are the natural progression from the B-bodies, at least from what is available. Here's mine getting it's first oil change in my possession. The old Saab 9-7x 5.3 is not happy about the new addition. lol

Thanks, Brandon. Yeah, I saw your sig, either here, or on the impalass forum and noted to my wife that that Saab has an LS3 in it. Her DD is a 2010 Tahoe PPV.

So you're the guy I can ping should I find a car and want the car's history looked at for options/recall service, etc? ;)

Since you're in the Houston area, where did you find your PPV?

I've been away from the dealerships for a long time, so I'm no longer able to provide GM histories, etc. :( As you know, there's usually limited history on most police vehicles anyway.

I actually bit the bullet and went to a dealer. I couldn't find any of them close by, and I wanted something other than white. I was on a limited budget, so the low-mile $20k+ cars were out. I paid $12,700 and $500 to ship. I didn't want a northern vehicle, but only having seen a couple of winters didn't seem to hurt it much.

Cool. I got them bookmarked a couple of days ago. We got our PPV from CopCarsOnline, and had it shipped. The hardest thing was waiting on he shipper to pick it up! But it got here quickly, and was a great buy. The are expecting a '12 Caprice in any day, so I'll have a closer look when they post more pictures.

Well, unless something falls through, it looks like we're soon going to be the new owners of a 2012 9C1. We should finalize things up next week, then wait for the transport to ship it to us.

Awesome! What color are you getting? We'll have to meet up and compare notes sometime.

EDIT: I'm guessing it's black. Cool!
