As mentioned before, it's how they're used that determines their legality. Bring a deer in with a hole through each hoof and through it's forehead, and the game warden will probably drag you in front of the judge at 0200 on a weekend morning.

Our 9C1 appears to have strobes on the mirrors. I don't plan on ever using them, although I'll probably make sure they work.

My son received my car this morning from the shipper. My only complaint is it came with 1 key.after driving the car my son called me and said " Oh wow Dad, you're gonna love this thing. It hauls ass!"
I can't wait till next Sunday, I feel like a kid waiting for a new bike.

WELL IF YOU HAVE NOT HAD THE IGNITION KEY RECALL DONE YOU YOU MAY STILL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO GET NEW KEYS. DO YOU KNOW IF THE RECALL HAS BEEN DONE TO IT YET?

And if you need the RKE remote fob portion of the key, they're not expensive. I ordered 2 from here. With that and getting the recall done, you should have 2 fully functional keys. Programming is easy.

Is there a way to tell if the ignition recall has been done other than to call a dealer?

Well the easy way is just to look at your key blade. If the flat side of your key blade is parallel to the flat top of the key head you have had the recall done. As the recall is nothing more than a new set of key blades.

Old Vs. New Keys pictured.

The Shifter recall is a bit more involved so best to go to the dealer with your VIN and request a GMVIS report that will detail all the work that has been done to the car by the dealers. Good to have anyway as it lists warranty records, RPO codes and the like.

I bought my Caprice in October 2013 and was first titled in December 2012. I have the keys shown as new that came with it when I bought it. So how can I have the new keys when my Caprice was manufactured July 2011?
