OEM Holden truck lid spoiler installed

Post by xcidmigs »

Got this the other day from an ebay au auction where they agreed to direct ship it to me, took only 10 days and was just before xmas which i thought was pretty good, plus the cost was way less than CP quoted for same and paypal.com handled the conversion of $$ which is definitely in our favor. Comes with good directions on how to make the holes in the trunk lid which is definitely scary. They are also not all round I would highly recommend having a dremel tool. I used some black nail polish on the fresh holes. You can see there is a dimple on the corners for the outside holes which was lined up correctly with the template. I wrapped mine with 3m vinyl metalic black since I'm going to do paint work later in the year on my rear bumper.

Very nice! Been meaning to install the one I bought last summer but I don't have a template. Is the dimple in your photo the location of the outside bolt holes? When I laid it out on the deck lid it seems to line up.

Let me give you some warning, unless they changed to a better double-sided tape, you will be re-doing the tape, the first time it gets real hot. I had this same spoiler installed by a professional, and as soon as the spoiler was exposed to Texas heat, the adhesive would release. I redid it myself twice, before my boat mechanic used some extreme duty marine tape on it.

Maybe you will have better luck than I did. YMMV

I'll second the info on the crap tape. My spoiler obtained from CP began to peel up as well after install. It got so bad that my body shop had to completely remove, clean up the spoiler/put new 3M tape on, and reinstall it. The body shop owner also had some choice comments about Holden's quality which I think the system filters would not like very much if I quoted, lol....

Any of you guys able to tell me exactly which tape they used? I've been thinking of doing some paint work in the spring but I will most likely be removing parts myself and taking to get painted off the car to save some $$.

Heres the Ebay auction..

http://www.ebay.com/itm/272044660012?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I did contact them before buying which is where the shipping cost came from, if you are on the west coast you might want to do the same as it should be somewhat lower than what i paid to get it to me in PA.
