Scored some red/black G8 seats
Scored some red/black G8 seats
I really didn't intend to move on any seats, but after some car-part.com research, I found a few places that had seats. One place deals almost exclusively in pickup truck parts. Talked to a guy about just the front buckets. They were listed for $250. When I got there, I messed around, and it was almost closing time on a Friday. He said take the front and rears all for $300. Uhhh, ok! Most places around here want $450-500 for decent leather buckets no matter what they came out of, most of the time.
They were a little dirty, so I wiped off the front seats to see what I had. Not too bad. Came out of a car with 70k miles. Better than my 123k miles seats! I may go back for the black/red leather steering wheel for another $100. It was too late to get it today. Should I?

Re: Scored some red/black G8 seats
Nice, just take the foam and covers off the front seats and install them on the PPV frames. That way you know the air bags are compatible as they changed the plugs.

Re: Scored some red/black G8 seats
Is there another option than that? I need to remove the Caprice seats and see what I'm dealing with.
For what it's worth, I went out to the car the seats came out of, and got the car side of the plugs/wiring.

Re: Scored some red/black G8 seats
Yes definitely get the steering wheel ! Heck if you don't want it I'll take it if it looks as good as the seats ! Cause I would love to get rid of the plastic wheel .
Re: Scored some red/black G8 seats
I went ahead and got the wheel, and I'm going to go ahead and use it. It's in such nice shape, and I didn't realize how much I was missing driving with the plastic wheel.

I figured you would have a change of heart after putting your hands on it . Nice score .bsparks72 wrote:I went ahead and got the wheel, and I'm going to go ahead and use it. It's in such nice shape, and I didn't realize how much I was missing driving with the plastic wheel.
Re: Scored some red/black G8 seats
You got a really good deal on those seats. Be careful cleaning them as the G8 leather is known to easily shrink.
I'm pretty sure you need to keep the Caprice's airbag and belt tensioner.
Here is a good post, which is what I ended up doing, it gives you power lumbar and front-back. (kudos to wigid)
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=921" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Also, do not turn the ignition on without everything installed, you will get an Airbag light that has to be reset with a TechII (dealership).

Yeah, I was following that post as well. Looks to be pretty straight forward. I had a little extra time yesterday, so I did the easy part:

Re: Scored some red/black G8 seats
Definitely worth the update. For not only the feel, but it will tie in well with the seats. IIRC, the lights on the wheel controls are red, right?bsparks72 wrote:I went ahead and got the wheel, and I'm going to go ahead and use it. I got the Holden wheel for our Caprice, put it on, and never looked back. We got an upgraded wheel for our Tahoe PPV, and liked it so much, I HAD to update the Caprice wheel.
So where is this G8, and did it have any console parts?

Re: Scored some red/black G8 seats
Those look great. Mine are solid black, I would've preferred the two tone, but I didn't think red would look right on my goldish colored car, and I couldn't find any black w\grey .
Keep us posted on the steering wheel install, I'm wondering if its a simple swap.
