Discussion on body issues/mods, appearance, interior/trim, and detailing (i.e. how to keep your car looking showroom new, or a reasonable facsimile thereof...).

Keep us posted on the steering wheel install, I'm wondering if its a simple swap.

Definitely worth the update. For not only the feel, but it will tie in well with the seats. IIRC, the lights on the wheel controls are red, right?
I got the Holden wheel for our Caprice, put it on, and never looked back. We got an upgraded wheel for our Tahoe PPV, and liked it so much, I HAD to update the Caprice wheel.
So where is this G8, and did it have any console parts?
The G8 is at Pickup Parts, 6425 N Shepherd. I bet all of the console stuff is there, but it's all strewn about in the car. The whole shifter (with red/black Pontiac leather head) is intact, as is the radio/climate controls. The car is sitting on top of another car, and it has no doors, so...

The swap looks very simple. Reuse the existing clock spring and airbag. I'm not even switching controls, as I don't car about the backlight color.
And those are the exact instructions I used to swap my wheel. Crazy Paul pointed me to that carmodder link when he sent me my new wheel. IIRC, the steering column has a keyed spline that matches a notch in the splined hole the column fits into on the wheel, so unless you are going at it with a sledge hammer it's impossible to get the wheel crooked.

If you want an aggravating project that will fight you the whole way, I suggest doing the G8 seat swap! lol
If I had to do one again, it wouldn't be so bad, but I fought the front seats for the better part of today. They're dirty, but they're in. I think the red/black steering wheel will set it off, but that will have to wait until tomorrow. This old man is tired, and I ran out of daylight.
Now that I see it together, I should really do something about that $7 console/cup holder. haha

We installed a console in our 10 Tahoe PPV, and the best I could do is get my wife to help me rotate the front seats out of the way so I could drop the console in. NO freaking way either was coming out without a fight. With all the electronics/air bags/steel framing, the theing weigh a ton.

how is the shoulder area bolstering on the g8 seats compared to stock? I love the stock seat bottoms but i have shoulder probs and have felt more comfortable in other car seats with different more supported shoulder areas just below the headrest.
