console- parking brake mounting plate assembly troubles

Post by MR6X6 »

hello all,On my 2012 9c1, i cant seem to get the parking brake base plate assembly plate to let loose under my armrest ? I just purchased a new aftermarket console assembly and was stumped by this plate. I have taken the same plate of of one of my other caprices, but this one isnt moving barley 1/4 inch forward or reverse..

Do you have the 9C1 or 9C3?

Some pics would be helpful as well as to what part yo are trying to get up.

I wonder if anyone posted a reply and it was lost (with all of the other posts) over that weekend??? Known system issue. If anyone did reply, I guess they need to re-reply. Wish I could help, but I've never taken one apart on these cars yet.

Seems once you disconnect all the cables there are 2 bolts on each side that get removed then the unit slides backwards out of brackets?

Image

Steps:
1. Fully release the park brake.
2. Remove the front floor console front cover.
3. Remove the left front floor console side cover.
4. Remove the right front floor console side cover.
5. Loosen the park brake cable adjuster bolt to provide slack in the front park brake cable.
6. Compress the front park cable retainers and disconnect the cable end from the adjuster arm.
7. Disconnect the front park brake cable from the parking bake adjuster assembly.
8 and forward in the image above.

Just be careful with the power tools. On the 9C3 there is a computer Module underneath towards the back of the console. Not seeing it pictured in the diagram on the 9C1 but that does not mean its not there.
