Help with glue left behind by the decals!

Post by Joecool »

For the past two days I have been trying to remove the sticker residue left behind by the police decals that I removed. I have been using a citrus degreaser that works ok but is very time consuming. I believe the reason I am struggling is because the residue has been left there for about a week after the decals were taken off so they dried and hardened. Any other method that might work?

Try some 3M adhesive remover spray. I've used this stuff for years and it's saved me a LOT of elbow grease. Here's an Amazon link to the product;

If that doesn't do it you may have to step it up to the next level.... hope that doesn't happen. This is really good on sticker goo though.

I usually go right to lacquer thinner. Get a rag pretty soaked rub it lightly and hold it on an area of adhesive and let it soak in. Then give it a scrape with a plastic puddy knife or similar, that will get rid of the bulk of it. Then get to a clean part of the soaked rag and give it a final wipe. The stuff will dissolve the adhesive the the rag will sweep it up just keep rotating the rag to give it a clean spot to suck in the adhesive.

After cleaning the clear coat may look a bit hazy but thats just the left over adhesive. Use a paint cleaner or light cutter to bring back a shine.

Ever tried it Sardillim? Looks interesting. Does it get gummed up?

Be vary carefully with laquer thinner as that can tear up the clear and paint.

WD40 works very well and will not harm the finish.
