Bulb Replacements

Post by mercialogo »

While I am waiting on Steve to package up some fog lights, I am going to start replacing some bulbs in the PPV with some LED's. The first few are going to be the back ups and the front ( I guess you call them ) Parking lights. I see that 194 bulb will work for both but I am new to this canbus stuff. I found some bulbs from Superbrightleds.com but they say they are not for CanBus, Do I need to have replace with Canbus bulbs? These are the ones that I am looking at. https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinf ... 1701/4011/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; 350 lm ( grunt grunt grunt.) Will these work or are there better options out there? Yes I want Bright as hell and a white white not the orange pale incandescent stuff that's there now.

Well one way you can do a quick check is pull the current bulb and if you get a bulb out message then you know you need a CanBus compatible. Not all circuits are monitored. But most are.

I picked up some LED equivalent 194 bulbs from the local auto zone and they work just fine.

Do the LED equivalent 194 bulbs change the look of the lights?

What do you mean by "change the look"? Do the bulbs themselves look different? Yes. Will they look different when looking at them through the lens, it depends on how much of the bulb is currently visible. The lenses on my '02 GMC are clear, so the LED headlights and front turn signal bulbs are quite visible. It looks kind of cool, though, IMHO.

Planning to upgrade mine also. May I know where did you get your LEDs?
