Did you use the 92213676 VE/WM shifter in your conversion? I like the way that yours looks and actually thought it reused the stock PPV shifter. None of the "06/07 VE/WM shifters that I can find look like the one you have.

I'm trying to assemble the needed parts to do the conversion in my '12 PPV.

cal30_sniper--Do you have any pics of the shifter install that you didn't post?

Every G8 shifter I've been able to locate is gated and doesn't look like the shifter in your pics.

Thanks,
Jim

Jim you never will find a G8 shifter like the one he used.. Because he got his from Australia from a model that came out 4 years before our cars came out. And a year or so before the G8 was imported. He wrote:

c) Use a 2006-07 Holden VE/WM shifter. They didn't go to tap shift until late '07, so the early cars have a straight gate shifter that includes P-R-N-D-3-2-1 (the method I used)

One thing you will notice is that the Gear indicators are on the wrong side of the shifter in relation to the driver, because in AU the driver sits on the other side of the shifter. One way you can see it not from/for the US market.

EDIT: I just realized there might be a left hand drive version in the Middle east for year 06-07. And yep sure enough there is a part that has gear indication of the correct side if you did not want to hook up tap shifting:

Good luck trying to find one of them!

Was there anyway to keep the locking mechanism on the shifter that wont allow you to shift out of park unless you press the brakes???

Not OP but is your question directed specifically at the shifter he used? Or in general for a G8/9C3 conversion? If former, cant help there. If latter, my shifter came with the little actuator thing and when the shifter is wired up correctly, the brake pedal is needed to shift from park. I could maybe snap a pic this weekend if you like.

I am talking about the actuator you described, but I also went with the wm aussie shifter too
