Discussion on body issues/mods, appearance, interior/trim, and detailing (i.e. how to keep your car looking showroom new, or a reasonable facsimile thereof...).

G8 seat compatibility on 14-17 Caprice - No go?

Post by 9C1fanatic »

I just recently got a G8 rear seat to install in my 2014 Caprice. I was slightly surprised but not shocked when I discovered it wont work. The fold down center section does not line up with the 4 studs in the body ( 2 of them do, 2 of them do not) and the hooks that engage into the body from the seat bottom are set wider than the OEM caprice seats so it cant be installed without modification to the body or seat somehow. Anybody else run into this.

Seems like another example where the G8 stuff is more compatible with 2011-2013 cars where as us 2014-2017 guys probably need to stick to the more impossible to find SS parts. Ill probably need an SS back seat to do this right. Weird to think they made these slight changes but they did.

ADMINISTRATOR NOTE - This was one-off to the specific car Garner had only. G8 rear seats DO interchange and are a direct swap for 11-17 Caprice rears WITH the G8 striker plate, trim piece, and additional seat attachment nuts. Studs are already in the body tub, just unused.
