Here's the pic of the blue inserts wrapped in vinyl shortly after I finished them. I didn't try wrapping the material around the insert and just cut along the bottom edge.

I can feel the edge of the material when I open the door and my thumb moves across the edge exposed from the handle being pulled out. It also took a lot of stretching to get the vinyl to work into the key recess on the driver's door; so much that it didn't stay. It looks okay and will get me until I give the car a rest when the salt trucks show up (Winter is Coming!), then I'll pull them back off and get them painted.


I also wrapped the bowties, which turned out much better and put them on a more appropriate thread:

I picked up a set of those blue g8 handles from eBay for ~ $35, planned to buy an overlay to cover the blue sections but it didn't workout.

As such for the time being I have simply plastidipped the section. It's not perfect, but it is another alternative and very easy to do. I installed the handles and sprayed them in less than 2 hours.

Again, my execution wasn't perfect but plastidip makes up for a lot of errors and gets the job done quick, easy, an cheap. Total project was $41!

Much better than the originals imo.

I’m in the process of prepping my car for paint and the front door handles don’t come off as easily as the rears.

Do the front door handles require the interior door panels to be removed? The front handles have the key lock.

I forgot to mention I have a 2012. So the door cap is just stubborn since it has the lock cylinder ?

Edit: I figured it out, trim removal tool was my friend here.
